Homemade pizza night✨🫶
This is my second time attempting a homemade pizza and it turned out WAY better than the first time.
Note:don’t let you dough over proof in the fridge it’ll turn into a giant air bubble/pizza bread monstrosity 💀😂😆
All of the following ingredients came from Aldi:
•pizza dough
•pepperoni
•mozzarella cheese
•tomato sauce
•butter
In fact the only things that didn’t were the tomato paste and the seasoning 🧂
My pizza sauce is very simple. I used a small can of tomato sauce, about 2 tbsp of tomato paste, Italian seasoning, garlic salt and a pinch of red pepper flakes.
Baked the pizza for 15 minutes at 450 and it was delish 👌🏻

Making homemade pizza has become one of my favorite ways to spend a cozy night in, and after a few tries, I've really nailed down some tricks that make a huge difference. I love how you can customize every single layer, creating your perfect 'Pizza Anatomy' as the OCR mentioned! For ingredients, beyond the basics like the awesome pizza dough and mozzarella from Aldi (seriously, their dough is a lifesaver!), don't be afraid to experiment. While pepperoni is a classic, I sometimes swap it for Italian sausage or even a mix of roasted veggies like bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms. For cheese, a blend of mozzarella and a little provolone or parmesan can add so much depth. And speaking of depth, adding fresh herbs like basil or oregano right after baking elevates the flavor instantly. The OCR also mentioned 'Garlic butter' – yes! Brush some melted garlic butter on the crust just before baking for an extra golden, flavorful edge. It's a game-changer! Now, let's talk about baking – this is crucial for that perfect crispy crust. My original recipe bakes at 450°F for about 15 minutes, which is a great starting point for many home ovens. However, the surface you bake on makes a huge difference. While some people wonder about placing frozen pizza directly on an oven rack (which isn't ideal for homemade dough), for fresh pizza, I highly recommend investing in a pizza stone or baking steel if you're serious about your pies. Preheat it in your oven at 450°F (or even higher, up to 500-550°F if your oven allows) for at least 30-60 minutes before you even think about putting the pizza in. This super-hot surface shocks the dough, creating that desirable crispy bottom. If you don't have a stone or steel, a preheated baking sheet turned upside down can work almost as well. Just make sure it's piping hot before you slide your pizza on. And remember my warning about over-proofing your dough in the fridge? That's because if your dough is too airy, it won't hold its shape or crisp up properly, leaving you with a floppy pizza. Getting the dough right, whether it's from Aldi or homemade, is the foundation for a truly delish pizza night!
