Things I wish I knew before going platinum
Something’s I wish I knew before impulsively dying my hair platinum blonde 4 years ago (and yes I did do some research before but not a lot). First thing is it does matter what you use to bleach your hair don’t make the mistake of going to the drugstore and getting the first thing of bleach you see because yes I’ve done that and my hair turned into a gummy stringy mess it took a lot to get it back to being “healthy”. I do encourage people who want to go platinum to go to a salon but I understand some can’t afford that during Covid I went to Sally’s beauty supply and found professional grade bleach and toner. This made my hair as healthy as it can be at home. Next thing I wish I knew that yes since you are using bleach you are damaging your hair even if you go to a salon. Yes I know that may sound silly but the amount of people that don’t understand that even if you go to a salon and bleach your hair you are still damaging it. The last point I have for now is that with that damage the amount of money and maintenance it takes to sustain platinum hair when I originally dyed my hair I thought yeah I knew I needed to use purple shampoo and go to the salon but I thought that was it. Little did I know that was far from it. The about of products I have to use to contain the frizz that the damage causes is insane if I go to sleep with wet hair I look like a poodle in the morning and there is no amount of hair spray that I can use to get it to sit in just the right way. Yes I’m sure there are cheaper ways to do this but this is what I have found that works for my and my hair and I’m sure there is someone out there that this could help. ugh i wanna be blonde.. platinum blonde!!! but after seeing this reality, id rather buy an expensive wig lol thank you so much for this break down. i have fragile thin hair to begin with so this is a great reminder why i don’t bleach it.
