The Ordinary Peeling Solution

I try to use The Ordinary’s 10 minute exfoliating peeling solution twice a month. Or even just once a month.. that good. I love how smooth my skin looks and feels afterwards, especially my nose which can get filled up with tons of blackheads. This helps to clear them out!

It’s extremely important to use this on clean DRY skin, apply a nice layer, avoiding the eye areas and do not leave it on longer than 10 minutes. Products I used in this video are

The Ordinary AHA 30%+BHA 2% Peeling Solution

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid + B5

The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Oil

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream

This little red bottle is a powerhouse, but using it correctly is key to seeing those amazing results – think super smooth skin and saying goodbye to those pesky blackheads. First things first, always start with a patch test. Seriously, don't skip this! Apply a tiny bit to an inconspicuous area, like behind your ear or on your inner arm, and wait 24 hours to check for any extreme reactions. This stuff is potent. My Step-by-Step for a Perfect Peel: Cleanse & Dry: This is crucial. Your skin must be completely clean and dry before application. Any moisture can increase penetration and lead to irritation. I usually wash my face with a gentle cleanser and then pat it completely dry. I even wait a minute or two to ensure there's no residual dampness. Apply Evenly: Dispense a small amount – usually about half a dropper full – onto your fingertips. Gently apply a thin, even layer across your face, making sure to avoid the eye area, lips, and any broken or irritated skin. You might feel a slight tingle, which is normal. If it burns, rinse immediately! The 10-Minute Rule: This is non-negotiable. Set a timer for exactly 10 minutes. Do NOT leave it on longer. Over-exfoliation can seriously damage your skin barrier. I like to do something relaxing during this time so I'm not tempted to leave it on longer. Rinse Thoroughly: After 10 minutes, rinse your face thoroughly with lukewarm water. Use your hands to gently splash and remove all traces of the solution. You want to make sure it's completely off your skin. Post-Peel Care is Everything! After rinsing, your skin will feel incredibly soft and maybe a little sensitive. This is where gentle hydration comes in. I immediately follow up with soothing, hydrating products. My go-to is The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid + B5 to draw moisture into my skin, followed by a rich moisturizer like Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream. On peeling days, I also love to seal everything in with a few drops of The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Oil – it's fantastic for nourishing and repairing the skin barrier. Avoiding 'Pilling' and Irritation: The "pilling" question is interesting! If you mean the product itself balling up, ensure your skin is completely dry before applying. If you're referring to excessive skin peeling post-treatment, that usually means you've either left it on too long, used it too frequently, or didn't prepare your skin properly. Remember, this is a chemical exfoliant, not a physical peel where sheets of skin come off. You should generally just see smoother, brighter skin, not visible peeling, unless your skin is particularly sensitive or you've overdone it. Always, always, always follow up with SPF the next day (and every day!). Your skin will be more susceptible to sun damage after using an AHA/BHA exfoliant. I typically use this The Ordinary 10 Min Exfoliating Peeling Solution once or twice a month, depending on how my skin feels. Listen to your skin – it will tell you what it needs! Consistent, careful use will give you that radiant, clear complexion you're looking for.
