Repot Alli with me 🪴
Ally got a repot today bc I was going crazy not being able to see her roots 😂
Good news: roots looked healthy as hell.
Bad news: now I’m probably gonna want all my plants in clear pots because I have trust issues.
She got fresh chunky aroid mix, a slightly bigger pot, and some gnatrol water because fungus gnats are not welcome in this household.

Repotting my Alocasia Polly was a refreshing experience that truly highlighted how important proper care is for houseplants, especially tropical ones like aroids. When I saw her roots through a clear pot, I was relieved to find them healthy—white and firm, which is exactly what you want for optimal nutrient absorption and overall plant vigor. Switching to a chunky aroid mix made a big difference in drainage and aeration, preventing root rot while keeping moisture levels just right. For anyone struggling with gnats, I highly recommend using Gnatrol WDG, a natural biological control agent that interrupts the gnat life cycle. Applying it as per instructions each watering truly helped keep those annoying pests under control. When repotting, I kept the plant at the same soil depth to avoid stem rot and shock. Also, I upgraded to a pot 1-2 inches bigger than her rootball to give her room to grow without drowning her roots. One tip I learned is to consider using clear pots when repotting because it lets you monitor root health easily without disturbing the plant. It helped me build trust in the soil and assess when she might need repotting again in the future. Overall, repotting can feel intimidating, but with the right materials and a gentle approach, it’s incredibly rewarding to see your aroids thrive post-repotting. Plant moms and dads who want to keep their tropical treasures healthy should definitely consider these tips!
