Movies About Female Friendship

1. GINNY&GEORGIA, 2023

⭐️Rate: 7/10

🎬Review: Overall I liked the show. However, I found Ginny to be incredibly annoyingth her spoiled and privileged behaviour. She is downright rude to her friends and mom. Her chracter has a lot of maturing to do

2. ROUGH NIGHT, 2017

⭐️Rate: 5/10

🎬Review: Jess Thayer (Scarlett Johansson), Alice (Jillian Bell), Blair (Zoe Kravitz), and Frankie (Ilana Glazer) are best friends since college. They are going on bachelorette vacation in Miami. Jess is getting married and running for state senate. They are joined by Jess's Autralian friend Pippa (Kate McKinnon) whom the other girls have never met. Jess reluctantly does cocaine with her girls and it only goes downhill after the dead male stripper

It's a relatively bland comedy until the dead stripper. Then it becomes tonally challenged. It's not dark enough. It's definitely not funny enough. Every passable joke is outnones that go flat. The guys are duds and Peter doesn't need this much screen time. The girls should do better than this. There are some funny bits but not everyone isplaying at max level.

3. Sam & Cat, 2014

⭐️Rate: 7/10

🎬Review: It isn't as good as some other TV shows and if I'm honest, not every episode is great. Most are though. It is rather comical but when you look at the otheer two TV shows that kind of brings this one together, victorious and icarly, this one isn't as good. It is stillfunny and for everyone, even though it is aimed at younger audiences. It is definitely worth givirit a chance.

4. INTO THE BEAT, 2020

⭐️Rate: 4/10

🎬Review: Alexandra Pfeifer was the only good thing about this movie. Don't consider it as a film about dance or strictly about romance, rather something in betvween, but failing to deliver both

messages. Was expecting great original soundtracks and choreoggraphies. I got bored so many times that I can't even count, and some scenes was makiing no sense at all, or was so quickly (un)developed..

... Read moreHey everyone! After diving into some great (and not-so-great, let's be real!) movies and shows about female friendship, I wanted to chat a bit more about why this genre means so much to us. There's just something incredibly powerful about seeing women support, challenge, and grow with each other on screen, isn't there? It reflects so many of our own experiences with our besties. When I'm searching for my next watch, I often look for stories that celebrate these unique bonds. From the laugh-out-loud antics of a bachelorette trip gone wrong (like in Rough Night!) to the deep, sometimes complicated, dynamics between mothers and daughters or lifelong pals, these stories always hit home. I love how they often show us navigating life's ups and downs, proving that with your girls by your side, you can get through anything. Speaking of navigating, have you noticed how many iconic female friendship movies involve a road trip or some epic journey? There’s something so liberating about seeing two women in a car, one driving, windows down, music blasting, ready for whatever adventure comes next. It’s a classic trope that perfectly symbolizes freedom, shared experiences, and escaping everyday life. These 'woman driving' scenarios aren't just about getting from point A to point B; they're about the conversations, the secrets shared, and the bond strengthening with every mile. Think of all the incredible 'female car driving serials' or movies where the car becomes a character in itself, a mobile sanctuary for friendship. It's a powerful visual that captures the essence of female solidarity and adventure. Beyond the road trips, I appreciate when shows explore the imperfections, too. Not every friendship is perfect, and sometimes characters, like Ginny in Ginny & Georgia, have a lot of growing to do. It makes the friendships feel more real and relatable when they're not always sunshine and rainbows. It shows that true friendship can weather disagreements and personal struggles. What makes a 'best movie about female friendship' for me often comes down to authenticity. Does it feel like real women interacting? Do their challenges and triumphs resonate? Whether it's a nostalgic look back at childhood friends, the intensity of new connections, or older women supporting each other through life's later stages, the core always has to be that genuine, unbreakable bond. I think my favorite moments are when the characters are just being together – sharing a meal, having a heart-to-heart, or even just sitting in comfortable silence. It's in these quiet, everyday moments that the depth of their connection truly shines. So, if you're ever in doubt about what to watch next and want something heartwarming, hilarious, or dramatically compelling, definitely dive into the world of female friendship movies and shows. You might just find your next favorite comfort watch or a story that inspires you to call your own best friend. What kind of female friendship stories do you find yourself drawn to the most? I'd love to hear your recommendations!

I agree about Georgia and Ginny. I’m waiting to hear back to see the newest season if it’s out. I forgot about it has taken so long. I felt bad for Georgia as a mom she is trying so hard it seems like.
