Finding Hurt in Private Notes
I never expected to feel so crushed by words I wasn’t meant to see. I came across a note on my husband’s phone where he described me as “fat” and “frumpy,” even though I know he’s kind and loving in daily life. Seeing his private thoughts felt like a punch to the gut.
I know he probably wrote it for therapy and not to hurt me, but it’s impossible to unread. I keep replaying it in my mind, questioning my worth, my appearance, even the love we share. It’s tough to reconcile the man I know—the one who treats me with respect, affection, and care—with the words I stumbled upon.
Moving forward feels complicated. Do I confront him? Do I try to let it go because I know intentions were not malicious? Or do I take time to heal and rebuild my self-esteem first?
Has anyone else experienced discovering harsh truths in a loved one’s private thoughts? How did you cope without letting it define how you see yourself?

That’s weird because one of your very recent posts said you were dating a guy named Jon for 5 months. Is this your husband now?
