Finished Poppy War, and I’m devastated

⭐️Overall rating: 5/5

The first part? Slow but the world building was necessary. Looking back, there’s also foreshadowing that I completely missed the first time but it all makes sense. The lessons and going to school actually brought a great amount of world building that mattered more than I initially thought it would.

The second part? Left me feeling mildly hopeful for the main cast of characters. Then people started dying and they didn’t stop dying. It was like a merry go round of death.

The third part? Heartbreaking, for so many reasons and on so many levels. However, while I was previously doubting finishing this series, it ended so strong that it recovered stars (I was initially thinking 4 stars overall), but it is compelling me to read the entire series.

Please be warned that this is a heavy book. I had to take my time with it because there’s only so much genocide, death, and drug use I can read about before I need something happy.
