Speaking from my own journey, the first hurdle is often the sheer physical and mental exhaustion. Imagine being the sole provider, caregiver, chef, cleaner, teacher, and emotional support system. There's no tag-team partner for those sleepless nights or early mornings. Every decision, big or small, rests entirely on your shoulders, and the mental load can be crushing. You constantly worry if you're doing enough, being enough. Then there's the financial tightrope walk. Living on one income, especially with rising costs, is a constant battle. Childcare is often a huge chunk, then there's rent, groceries, school supplies, clothes... and you want to give your kids those magical moments, like seeing them run free in a sun-drenched field, just like in that beautiful photo. But affording those experiences or even just carving out the time and energy for them can feel impossible some days. You learn to budget like a pro, sometimes sacrificing your own needs to ensure theirs are met. The emotional isolation is another heavy burden. There are days when you just need an adult conversation, a moment to vent, or someone to share a laugh with after a long day. But often, it's just you and the kids. Friends might not always understand, and dating feels like a distant dream. You long for that co-parent to bounce ideas off of, to share the triumphs and the tears. This loneliness can creep in even when you're surrounded by love. Making all parenting decisions solo is profoundly difficult. From discipline strategies to school choices, health matters to extracurriculars, every single decision point comes back to you. There's no one to say, 'What do you think?' or 'Let's talk about this.' It forces incredible resilience, but it also means carrying the full weight of every outcome, good or bad. Finally, it’s the guilt. The guilt of not being two parents, of not having enough time, of being too tired, of making mistakes. You constantly question if you're setting your children up for success, if they're missing out on anything. But through all these struggles, there's immense strength found in the love for your children. We learn to dig deep, find resources we didn't know we had, and build incredibly strong bonds with our kids. It's not easy, but it's a journey filled with profound love and resilience.

Hardest part about being a single parent? Whew doing everything for everybody and somehow still being expected to look sane, smile, and keep the fridge full. 😂 No manual. No break. Just vibes, deep breaths, and “what’s for dinner?” 7 days a week. But if you’re in it like me you’re not alone. You’re not failing. You’re flipping miracles out of messes every single day. And your kids see it even if they act like they don’t. 💖💪🏾 We don’t just survive. We thrive with a little prayer, a lot of snacks, and a healthy amount of talking to ourselves in the car. 😅 Keep going. You’re doing better than you think. #AskLemon8 #dowhatyoulove #dwyl #bewhatyoulove #bwyl #getupdontgiveup #painturnedtoprofit #prettybutpetty #pettywithapurpose #SingleParentStrong #DWYLBWYL #DoingItScaredAndStillWinning #PainTurnedToPower #LaughThroughTheChaos

For me it was when I had work all day long to be able to afford a decent life 🥺 . I missed out on a lot of beautiful moments of Little one’s life because I was always working. :( Now I’m married and I have a second son , I still work but not as much as I had to back in the day, and I realize how much missed out on. There’s a lot of things I don’t remember about my first child growing up because of trauma and stress 🥺.
