OAKCHA Review (Brutally Honest)

So I have been on a hunt for a new perfume recently. Typically, my go-to would be YSL’s Black Opium (I have yet to find a perfume I like more than it) - but I felt like it was time to switch it up. Personally, I have always loved perfumes that are warm, vanilla-y, ambery, and edging on edible. With that being said, here’s how I feel about these OAKCHA scents.

Marshmallow Mist 3.5 ⭐️

This scent is definitely deceiving. Until you’re several hours in, it does not give marshmallow whatsoever. To me, it smells very sweet candy, fruity, and fresh. After a few hours, it does smell faintly marshmallow on the skin - but not on fabric. This scent is also very strong when first sprayed, but it definitely dies after a few hours (unless it’s on your clothes, then it lasts all day).

According to OAKCHA, this is a unisex scent with base notes of sugared woods, musk, and vanilla; top notes of pink marshmallow, cloudberry, sweet orange, and star anise; and heart notes of roasted marshmallow, caramel, honeysuckle, and creamy milk.

I would agree that it could certainly be a unisex scent depending on how you layer it, but it absolutely does not give marshmallow or caramel. However, the scent itself is sweet and nice. I’ve heard from others online that it gets more accurate after a few days of being exposed to oxygen - so maybe I’ll report back if that’s true.

That Girl | Viral Vanilla 4.5 ⭐️

This perfume smells SO yummy. It’s not the strongest out the gate, but it doesn’t need to be. It’s soft, warm, creamy, caramel-y, and vanilla-y. If I’m being honest, THIS is what I thought marshmallow mist would smell like because it totally gives gooey marshmallow. With that being said, it’s very wearable and not at all cheap or immature smelling.

OAKCHA lists the base notes as sugared white musk, amber, vanilla, and marshmallow; the top notes are caramel swirl, coconut tonka bean, and honey milk. I personally don’t smell coconut at all, but that might just be me. I also wouldn’t have been mad if the amber was stronger. But this perfume is a solid vanilla - probably the best classic vanilla I have ever smelled. Just like Marshmallow Mist, it lasts much longer on clothes than skin, but by no means does it fade fast.

That Girl is also listed as a unisex scent; I’m sure it definitely could be depending on how it is layered, but it’s definitely more of a feminine scent on its own.

... Read moreOkay, so you've heard the buzz about OAKCHA, especially their viral scents like Marshmallow Mist and That Girl Viral Vanilla. As someone constantly on the hunt for that perfect warm, edible-smelling perfume, I completely get the curiosity! My initial dive into these scents, especially seeing the pretty Oakcha perfume bottles lined up, was filled with excitement, and I wanted to share a deeper look at what to expect beyond just the first spray. First off, understanding how a fragrance truly develops on your skin is key. Perfumes aren't static; they evolve. For Marshmallow Mist, I found that first burst of sweet candy and fruit was much more prominent than any marshmallow. But here's a pro tip: give it time! The magic often happens in the dry-down. Our skin chemistry plays a huge role, and what smells one way to start might transform into something beautiful hours later. I’ve learned to spray, wait, and then truly judge, especially for complex gourmands. For those of us obsessed with longevity, especially with vanilla scents that we want to linger all day, there are a few tricks beyond just spraying on clothes. Try applying an unscented moisturizer or Vaseline to your pulse points before spraying your perfume. The oil in the moisturizer helps 'hold' the fragrance molecules longer, giving your That Girl Viral Vanilla or Marshmallow Mist more staying power. Don't forget your hair – a light mist on your hairbrush before styling can help diffuse the scent gently throughout the day without being too overwhelming. Now, let's talk about layering. If you, like me, adore that 'gooey marshmallow' or 'caramel swirl' vibe, layering can take your OAKCHA experience to the next level. For Marshmallow Mist, if you want to enhance that roasted marshmallow heart, try pairing it with a simple vanilla body lotion or even a plain caramel-scented oil. For That Girl Viral Vanilla, which already has that creamy depth, consider layering with a hint of a muskier vanilla or even a soft amber to give it more sophistication and warmth, especially if you're looking to lean into its potential as a unisex scent. This really helps to bring out the specific notes you love and make the scent truly *yours*. Many of you might also be curious about the OAKCHA brand itself, beyond just these two popular scents. They've made a name for themselves by offering high-quality inspired fragrances at accessible prices. If you're a 'gourmand girlie' like me, and you love scents with notes like vanilla glaze, cotton clouds, or even something like the intriguing Madame Rose (if you want a floral twist), OAKCHA has a wide range to explore. It's fantastic for building a versatile fragrance wardrobe without breaking the bank, allowing you to experiment with different moods and occasions. Overall, OAKCHA offers some truly delightful options for scent enthusiasts looking for quality and great value in their perfume journey.

Yeah marshmallow mist threw me off. It doesn’t smell marshmallow to me. It’s more woodsy imo.

I like to layer marshmallow must with jasmine blossom. Just got viral vanilla and I didn’t pick up any coconut either but agree with your take on it.
