Holidays Are Coming! 🐎🔔: How Much PTO Is Left?
Listen I just got back from vacation and I am immediately is ready to go back on one.
Thankfully we are close to the end of the year so holidays, three day weekends, & vacations are all intertwined. But I’m interested how much vacation time do you get and how much of it is left?
I get 4 weeks worked plus a week of personal time. Since COVID Ive been able to roll over a week to the next year to use before my regular vacation kicks in. And it helps a lot! My previous employer only gave us one week of paid vacation and you had to be a manager so what I get now is way better. Plus ion gotta manage anybody
I have thanksgiving and the day after off coming up. And then I’m off from Christmas to the day after New years. I’m so ready for that!
So group 1-7! How much vacation you got left and what’s already planned?

As we head into the busiest holiday season of the year, many people start thinking about how to maximize their remaining paid time off (PTO). The end of the year is a perfect time to reflect on how much vacation time you have left and strategize how to use it effectively. With a variety of holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day around the corner, combining these with personal vacation days and three-day weekends can create longer breaks that recharge your energy fully. It's common for companies to offer several weeks of vacation, along with personal days, sick leave, and sometimes the ability to roll over unused days to the next year. For instance, since the pandemic, some employers have become more flexible, allowing employees to save or transfer a week or more of unused PTO. This change benefits many, especially those who want an extended time off beyond their standard allotment. If your employer follows a traditional PTO structure, it’s a good idea to review your balance now and plan accordingly. Make sure to consider volunteer activities or any commitments during work hours, as they can affect your available time to fully disconnect. Some people choose to save their PTO for longer trips, while others prefer frequent short breaks to maintain mental wellness throughout the year. Interestingly, different companies have various policies. Some may only provide one week of paid vacation mostly to managers, while others offer four or more weeks plus personal time. This disparity influences how employees manage their work-life balance and plan their time off. Additionally, take note of official holidays where you are automatically off work. In the U.S., Thanksgiving and the day after, as well as the period from Christmas through New Year's, are common extended breaks. Planning your PTO around these can optimize your vacation without using too many leave days. Have you checked how much PTO you have left this year? What are your planned holidays or vacations? Whether you're looking forward to relaxing at home, traveling, or volunteering, sharing your experiences and tips on managing PTO can inspire others to make the most of their work breaks this season.
