Quick story time about last night. 😂😭
I was so honored when my dear friend Lena asked me to be part of a tatau presentation. Y’all… I was NERVOUS. 😂 It’s one thing to hit record, add a few sounds, and edit a video. It’s a whole different story standing in front of a crowd. Honey, I was shaking so bad I felt like I was already dancing before the performance even started. 😭
It’s been a while since I’ve been on stage, so I did what any daughter would do… I begged my mum to be up there with me. 😂 She swore she had a million things to do, but after days of me bothering her, she finally gave in.
Mum… I love you. ❤️
It’s the little things that mean the most to me. The way you continue to show up for me—whether it’s something big or something as simple as standing beside me—has always inspired me to do the same for the people I love.
You’re my rock. My safe place. Having you on that stage with me gave me the confidence to smile, breathe, and just enjoy the moment.
But honestly… I’m not surprised. That’s who you’ve always been—not just in my life, but in the lives of so many people.
Thank you for always showing up for me. I love you more than words could ever say. ❤️🥹
Having experienced stage fright myself during live performances, I can truly relate to the deep anxiety that can set in even before stepping on stage. One time, before a community event, I was so nervous that I almost canceled, but just like in this partage, having a loved one by my side made all the difference. It’s amazing how the presence of someone who believes in you can transform your fear into bravery. Stage fright, or performance anxiety, is incredibly common, and many people find unique ways to overcome it. What stood out in this story is the beautiful bond between mother and daughter and how emotional support can boost confidence quickly. I also love that this took place during a tatau presentation, highlighting a cultural event where sharing personal stories can create deeper connections with the audience. For anyone struggling with nerves before performing, I recommend a few practical tips: focus on slowing your breath to calm your nervous system, practice positive self-talk to encourage yourself, and if possible, bring a supportive figure on stage or closeby, as that emotional anchor can be invaluable. Of course, each person's journey is unique, but stories like this inspire us to embrace vulnerability and lean on those we love when we need strength. Finally, the phrase "POV: You begged your mum to perform with you because your stage fright had stage fright" perfectly captures the humor mixed with genuine emotion that often accompanies overcoming fear. It’s a reminder that sometimes, even the bravest among us need a helping hand—and that’s perfectly okay. Cherish those moments with family, because their presence can turn daunting experiences into cherished memories.
