Worst Experience
I called CPS on a lady…and nothing was done. Completely made me lose hope in our system. When I was recovering from an ankle surgery, my neighbor asked me to babysit her child so she could go to work. I didn’t know this neighbor or her child. I told her I had to leave town for a bit so I wouldn’t be able to. When I tell you this woman handed me her child and her car seat to take her with me, I was floored. I ended up taking the child because she said she would go ask upstairs neighbors if I couldn’t and she didn’t know them either. I couldn’t just let some random person take this child because you never know what people would do! Went I went into her apartment it was covered in animal feces and smelt horrible. She had cats, dogs, and a ferret in a cage with feces running down the side of it. She said I could just leave her kid in the crib and check in on her every so often (not what I did, I took that child to my apartment because I couldn’t breathe there). Neighbor never told me her name, where she worked, or her phone number. Didn’t tell me the child’s name either and just left. She never asked my name either.
CPS deemed it wasn’t enough to investigate her. I cried when I got the letter, which is how I found what the child’s name was. I still think about them.
