“Bleeding Faith”

Original Artwork inspired by:

“So Jesus went with him. A large crowd followed and pressed around him. And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering. At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?” “You see the people crowding against you,” his disciples answered, “and yet you can ask, ‘Who touched me?’ ” Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.””

... Read moreThe biblical account of the woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5 is one of my absolute favorite stories in the Bible. It speaks volumes about faith, perseverance, and the incredible healing power of Jesus. When I first read it, I couldn't help but imagine her desperation after twelve long years of suffering. Think about it – twelve years! She had spent everything she had on doctors, only to get worse. Can you imagine the emotional, physical, and financial toll that must have taken? This story beautifully illustrates how God keeps His promises. Many times, we hear about the “365 promises of God,” and while a specific PDF might compile them, the essence is that God is faithful to His word. This woman's healing wasn't just a random event; it was a fulfillment of the promise that God is a healer, a restorer, and a comforter. She didn't have a formal list of promises, but she had a deep-seated belief, a conviction, that if she could just touch Jesus, she would be made whole. Isn't that what faith is all about? Trusting in a promise, even when we can't see the full picture yet. Her action of reaching out and touching Jesus' cloak wasn't just a physical act; it was an act of profound faith. In her society, her condition would have rendered her ceremonially unclean, ostracizing her from community and worship. Yet, she pushed through the crowd, defying social norms and her own physical weakness. This tells us so much about the human spirit and the length to which we’ll go when we truly believe in a solution. And Jesus, noticing that “power had gone out from him,” didn't just heal her physically; he affirmed her dignity and her faith, calling her “Daughter.” This is a beautiful testament to how Jesus sees beyond our ailments to our true worth. For me, this story is a powerful reminder that no matter how long or how difficult our struggles, God’s promises of healing, hope, and peace are always available. It encourages us to boldly approach Him with our needs, just as she did. It's not about a magical touch, but about the heart behind it – a heart full of unwavering faith in His ability and willingness to help. This isn't a mere fable or a subject for a fleeting image; it's a foundational truth about divine compassion and the transformative power of belief. Let this story inspire you to hold onto God's promises today, knowing that He is always ready to respond to a faith-filled heart.
