Working 2 jobs and being a full time college student is NOT FOR THE WEAK😩. There are times where I just want to call off work or skip class but what keeps me motivated is this being my last year of undergrad!
I manage working my first job because I work early am (5am -2pm) before my classes in the afternoon ! I am able to get more hours at work by doing this !
For school: I take all my notes while in class ! I take pictures of the slides from the professor and sometimes I can finish in class and other times I write them outside of class to have them ! I have days where i have classes all day for about 7 hours ! (And I am not working those days ! ) During my breaks i tend to study while i have down time or finish writing my notes !
Second job : I work in an office on my college campus ! It’s a super easy job and I get to sit and do my homework while chatting with my supervisors and coworkers! This allows me to get work done ! That I haven’t finished or study 🥰 #college#collegelife#studentlife#AskLemon8#letchat

... Read moreIt's no secret that balancing a full-time college schedule with two jobs is an absolute marathon, not a sprint. Like many of you, I've been there, feeling the squeeze of early morning shifts, late-night study sessions, and the constant juggle of commitments. My own journey involved clocking in for my first job well before dawn, then heading straight to classes, and later using an on-campus work-study position to sneak in precious homework time. It truly takes grit, but with a few smart strategies, it’s not just doable – it’s a path that can lead to incredible growth.
One of the biggest game-changers for me was mastering time management. It's more than just a calendar; it's about ruthless prioritization. I learned to map out my entire week, blocking out study times, work shifts, and even carving out small windows for self-care. This included making a conscious effort to complete assignments early, often tackling them on weekends when my class schedule was lighter. Don't underestimate the power of a detailed planner or a reliable digital calendar where you note down every deadline, every shift, and every major assignment. This helps you visualize your commitments and avoid last-minute panic.
Academic flexibility is another key pillar. While I always tried to take detailed notes in class, actively participating meant I often grasped concepts better on the spot, reducing my study load later. And when things got really tight, I wasn't afraid to communicate. I'd talk to my professors early if I foresaw a conflict or a particularly demanding week. Most are understanding if you're proactive. Leveraging campus resources, like writing centers or tutoring services, can also be a massive help when you're short on time but need to ace that paper or understand a complex topic like a regression model.
Let's be real, the grind of working 30+ hours a week while studying can lead to serious burnout. That's why self-care isn't a luxury; it's a necessity. It's tough, but try to prioritize sleep, even if it means saying no to a social event. Meal prepping on a day off saved me countless hours and ensured I wasn't relying on unhealthy takeout. And even a 15-minute walk or a quick listen to my favorite podcast during a break could reset my mind. Remember, you're not just a student or an employee; you're a human being who needs to recharge.
Finally, don't underestimate the power of building a support system. My friends, family, and even understanding supervisors at my on-campus job became my cheerleaders. They understood my schedule and limitations, and sometimes, just venting to someone who gets it can make all the difference. If your second job is an on-campus role like mine, where you can do homework at your desk, cherish that! It's a golden opportunity to integrate your responsibilities and make every hour count. It's tough, but seeing the finish line of graduation, knowing I've earned it while managing so much, is the ultimate motivation. You’ve got this!
What do you do as your first job? I’m looking for a job that can accommodate with my school schedule.
