Resisting Temptation and Letting God in

Hello Lemon8 Friends,

I thought I’d come to you all with a short Bible study. I’m currently reading the gospel of Luke. I’m finding so many good gems here. I’ve already read John and mark already and Matthew is next after I finish Luke. I’m starting to understand Jesus’ resolve after being in the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights.

These scriptures spoke to me because this time it really dawned on me that even though throughout our lives we will always be tempted by satan and our wicked ways… it is truly up to us to resist the devil and to seek God and his righteousness (Matt 6:33). What does this mean to seek his righteousness? This means to seek everything that is pure & holy. It means to live holy and to be holy. living holy means to deny yourself and to pick up your cross daily. It means to love yourself and to love one another.

Jesus was able to deny his natural instincts to please the Holy Spirit. None of what Jesus did in the wilderness is accidental. Choosing to deny your own selfish ways and to ask for help when you truly need it. This is true humility; denying yourself and leaning on another is LOVE in its truest form.

In scripture, it states that “iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another” proverbs 27:17.

I will leave you all with this:

Temptation will always be in and around you but if you want to truly resist temptation. You have to be of god and deny yourself. You have to submit to him in all your ways. You must follow him you have to love and have faith that things will work in your favor.

Remember God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit is always by your side.

Dear ABBA,

I pray that whoever reads this Bible study; finds it to be comforting to their spirits. I hope it prompts them to pick up a physical Bible and to READ and STUDY you beautiful words. When they don’t understand what they’ve read help them to seek your wisdom. Help them to seek your glorious guidance. I pray that each and every person reading this will pick up their cross daily and pray to you for deliverance in your son’s name. I pray for your love to come down on those seek you. Cover them in the blood of Jesus father.

In Jesus Name,

Amen 🫶🏽

To truly resist temptation, it is essential to cultivate a daily relationship with God through prayer and scripture study. Jesus’ 40-day fast in the wilderness exemplifies the strength found in spiritual commitment and the necessity of relying on the Holy Spirit's guidance. By identifying your personal temptations, you can implement strategies such as accountability partners, meditation on scriptural truths, or joining Bible study groups to reinforce your resolve. Remember, true humility involves recognizing your weaknesses and seeking help from God and others within your faith community. As emphasized in Proverbs 27:17, iron sharpens iron – we grow stronger together through shared faith and encouragement. Ultimately, resisting temptation means aligning your life with God’s will, prioritizing a relationship with Him, and being mindful about your thoughts, actions, and choices. In moments of struggle, rely on prayer to seek divine support and navigate your spiritual journey with faith and love.
