Made homemade fugglers with my friend :3
I've always loved the quirky charm of Fugglers, but finding the perfect one can be tough. That’s why my friend and I decided to dive into the world of DIY and make our own homemade Fugglers! It was such a fun and rewarding project, and I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a unique craft idea or want to create a truly one-of-a-kind plushie. Why Make Your Own Fuggler? Making your own Fuggler isn't just about saving money; it's about unleashing your creativity! You get to choose every detail, from the fabric to the number of eyes. Plus, it's incredibly satisfying to bring your own monstrous little friend to life. We saw a lot of interest in specific types like 'Hello Kitty Fuggler' or 'Sanrio Fuggler' online, and making your own means you can infuse any character or theme into your design, giving it that special touch while keeping the Fuggler's signature weirdness. What You'll Need for Your DIY Fuggler The beauty of homemade Fugglers is that you can use a lot of materials you might already have around. Here’s a basic list: Fabric: Scraps work perfectly! I used some beige with black patterned fabric for one of mine, and for another, we went wild with colorful striped fabric in red, orange, purple, blue, and green. Old clothes, felt, fleece, or even fake fur are great options. Buttons: Essential for those signature Fuggler eyes! Mismatched buttons are a must for that quirky look. Thread & Needle/Sewing Machine: For stitching your monster together. My friend and I mostly hand-sewed, which adds a lot of character. Stuffing: Polyester fiberfill, old pillow stuffing, or even fabric scraps. Felt or Scrap Fabric: For making mouths, teeth, or other small details like a purple fabric mouth. Scissors, Pins, Fabric Marker/Chalk. My Step-by-Step Guide to Crafting Your Own Fuggler Sketch Your Monster: This is my favorite part! Before cutting anything, draw out your Fuggler. Think about its shape, how many eyes it will have, what kind of mouth, and any other unique features. This is where you can get inspiration for an 'orange and black fuggler' or a 'Post Malone fuggler' theme. Create a Pattern: You don't need fancy patterns. Simple shapes like ovals, circles, or even a basic gingerbread-man shape work well for the body. Cut two identical pieces for the front and back. Cut Your Fabric: Pin your pattern to your chosen fabric and cut it out. Remember to leave a small seam allowance if you're sewing by machine, or just cut a bit wider for hand-sewing. Sew the Body: Place your two fabric pieces right sides together. Start sewing around the edges, leaving a gap of about 2-3 inches open at the bottom or side. This opening is for stuffing and turning. Turn and Stuff: Once sewn, turn your Fuggler right side out through the opening. Now, it's time to stuff it firmly until it has that classic plushie feel. Make sure to get stuffing into all the limbs and corners. Add Eyes and Mouth: This is where the magic happens! Hand-sew your mismatched buttons securely onto the face for eyes. For the mouth, cut a shape out of felt or another fabric scrap. You can stitch on individual felt teeth or embroider them directly onto the mouth piece before attaching it to the body. A simple purple fabric mouth can add a vibrant touch! Close the Opening: Hand-stitch the opening closed using a ladder stitch for a neat finish. Personalize and Accessorize: Now's the time for extra details! Maybe add some small felt ears, embroidered scars, or even little fabric patches. This is where you can really let your 'Fuggler inspo' shine. If you want a 'Hello Kitty Fuggler' vibe, you could use pink and white fabric and add a little bow, giving your Fuggler a sweet yet sinister twist! For a 'Sanrio Fuggler,' think about iconic color palettes and small accessories. Don't be afraid to experiment with different fabrics and colors, like that striking beige with black design or the vibrant striped one we made. The quirkier, the better! Making your own Fuggler is all about having fun and creating something wonderfully unique. Happy sewing!
