*Jinkies* 🥰
Velma! Omg I loved Scooby doo as a kid and I would like to do Daphne next. If you are plus sized, don’t let that stop you from dressing as a character. I used to feel like I didn’t belong in this space because of my weight. That’s incorrect. You matter and you belong! Do what feels right in your heart and be true to yourself. We come in all shapes and sizes and cosplay is dressing up as a character and having fun while doing it. You can tell I was having a ball. Lmao 🤣 thank you for all of the love on my posts! Welcome to the #Jadorefam
Drop some ideas on who I should do next in the comments. 🥰🥰🥰#lemon8diarychallenge #scoobydoo #blackcosplayer #velma
Jinkies! When I first decided to do a Velma cosplay, I was so excited but also a little nervous. Velma Dinkley has always been one of my favorite characters from Scooby-Doo – her intelligence, wit, and iconic style, especially that orange sweater and glasses, just make her so memorable! For years, I dreamt of bringing her to life, but as a plus-size cosplayer, I often felt like I wouldn't fit in or that I wouldn't do the character justice. If you've ever felt that way, please know you're not alone, and it's absolutely not true! My journey into plus size Velma cosplay truly opened my eyes. I realized that the magic of cosplay isn't about fitting a certain mold; it's about celebrating characters you love and expressing your creativity. Finding the right Velma Dinkley cosplay pieces was part of the fun! I scoured thrift stores for the perfect orange turtleneck, found some comfy red pleated skirts, and, of course, the signature glasses were a must. Don't be afraid to mix and match or even customize pieces to feel comfortable and confident. The most important thing is that you feel fantastic in your costume. For my Velma look, I focused on materials that felt good against my skin and allowed for easy movement, which is crucial when you're posing for photos or just having a great time at an event. Little details, like making sure the wig was just right, also added to the overall authentic feel of my VELMA COSPLAY. One of the biggest lessons I've learned is that cosplay is a space for everyone, regardless of shape, size, or background. Seeing myself as Velma, embracing her spirit, was incredibly empowering. I want to encourage anyone out there who's hesitating to just go for it! The cosplay community is full of supportive people who just want to share their passion. We need more representation, and every person who confidently steps into a character they love adds to that beautiful diversity. Don't let negative self-talk or perceived limitations hold you back from exploring this wonderful hobby. Start with a character that truly resonates with you, just like Velma did for me, and let your passion shine through. Now that I've had such a blast as Velma, I'm already thinking about my next adventure. Daphne from Scooby-Doo is definitely on my radar, but I'm open to other suggestions too! What characters do you think would be great for a plus size cosplayer? Perhaps another iconic character from Scooby-Doo or a completely different universe? Share your ideas in the comments, and let's keep spreading that body-positive love in the cosplay world. Remember, your passion and creativity are what truly matter. Let's solve some mysteries and look fabulous doing it, one amazing cosplay at a time. It’s all about having fun and celebrating who you are!
