Velma 🫶
I loved Velma so much she was a vibe I’m going to post other pictures I took of this look as well. Comment suggestions on who I should cosplay next #lemon8diarychallenge #blackcosplayer #velma #Lemon8Diary #velmacosplay
Hey everyone! I just had to share more about my Velma Dinkley cosplay because it was such a dream to put together! I loved channeling Velma’s smart, quirky energy, and the best part was seeing it all come to life. If you're thinking about cosplaying Velma, or just curious about the details, here's a little breakdown of how I created my look! Getting that Classic Velma Look: Makeup & Hair Tips The first thing I focused on was Velma's makeup. She's not super glam, which makes her look really achievable! I went for a natural base with a good foundation and concealer to even out my skin tone. For the eyes, a simple black eyeliner wing – not too dramatic, just enough to define the eyes – and a few coats of mascara were perfect. I kept lip color pretty nude or a light, natural pink, nothing too bold. The key is to look approachable and clever, just like Velma! Sometimes adding a few subtle freckles can really enhance the cartoonish charm, too. Next up, the iconic Velma Dinkley hairstyle! That short, reddish-brown bob is instantly recognizable. I opted for a wig, as my natural hair isn't quite the right length or color, but if you have a short bob already, a temporary dye or even a hair chalk could work. When choosing a wig, look for one that’s pre-styled or easy to cut into that classic bob shape with bangs. Don’t forget to make sure the bangs frame your face just right, hitting around the eyebrow level. It makes all the difference! Assembling Your Velma Cosplay Outfit Beyond the makeup and hair, putting together the rest of the Velma Dinkley cosplay is pretty straightforward but super fun! You'll need: An orange turtleneck sweater: This is non-negotiable! Look for a bright, classic orange. A red pleated skirt: The pleated style really gives it that vintage cartoon vibe. Orange knee-high socks: To match the sweater and complete the legwear. Red Mary Jane shoes: Or any comfortable red flats that complete the retro look. Black square-rimmed glasses: Absolutely essential! Velma without her glasses isn't Velma. I found a pair online that worked perfectly, but you can often find costume glasses at party stores. I love finding pieces from thrift stores or mixing and matching from online retailers to get the perfect Velma outfit. It’s all about attention to detail! Thinking About My Next Cosplay Adventure! Doing this Velma cosplay made me so excited for future projects! As a #blackcosplayer, I love showcasing how diverse and inclusive the cosplay world can be. It’s all about celebrating characters we love, no matter our background. I'm already brainstorming who to embody next. Some of you asked for suggestions, and I've been thinking about staying in the Scooby-Doo universe – maybe a cool take on Cosplayer Shaggy, or even Daphne or Fred. What do you all think? Who should I transform into next? Let me know in the comments below! I'm always looking for fresh ideas and love hearing your input. Jinkies!
