Beetlejuice Cosplay
This face paint was terrible no eyeshadows wanted to blend in it. Can you guys give suggestions on what face paint to use? This was just very hard to blend and I didn’t really like the eyeshadow placement but I feel like if I have a better base the other elements would look better #beetlejuicebeetlejuicebeetlejuice #beetlejuice #beetlejuicecosplay #charactermakeup
Oh no, I totally feel your pain with face paint woes! It's such a common struggle, especially when you're aiming for an iconic look like Beetlejuice. I've been there with makeup not blending, and it can be so frustrating when you're trying to nail that perfect spooky vibe. For Beetlejuice face paint, I've found that water-activated paints often give the smoothest base and blendability. Brands like Mehron Paradise Makeup AQ or Wolfe FX are absolute game-changers. They might seem a bit pricier, but trust me, they make a huge difference in how your eyeshadows and details sit on top. You just need a little water and a good brush or sponge, and you can build up opaque layers without it feeling heavy or cracking. When it comes to the Beetlejuice colors palette, especially for the classic 1988 look, it's all about that ghastly green, hints of purple, and the stark white and black for definition. For the main base, a good white paint is crucial for that decaying complexion. Then, you'll want a mossy or sickly green for bruising and contouring. Don't forget some purples and even a touch of pink or red around the eyes to give that sunken, undead effect. For the eyes, a smoky purple or dark green can really make them pop against the pale skin. Regarding the striped suit makeup, this is where precision comes in! Once your base is set, using a thin, angled brush with black face paint or even a gel liner can help you create those sharp, uneven stripes. Think about how his suit looks – it’s not perfectly uniform, which actually makes it easier in a way! You can even use stencils or tape for super crisp lines if you prefer. For added depth, lightly shade around the stripes with a grey or light black eyeshadow. This gives the illusion of texture, just like his actual suit. And for the blending issue you mentioned with eyeshadows, if you're layering them over face paint, make sure your face paint base is completely dry and set with a translucent powder first. This creates a smooth canvas. Then, use highly pigmented matte eyeshadows for your details. Applying a matching cream base or an eyeshadow primer over the set face paint can also give the powders something to really grip onto, making them blend seamlessly. Working in thin layers and using fluffy blending brushes in circular motions helps a lot. Finally, don't forget setting spray! A strong setting spray like Ben Nye Final Seal will lock everything in place, especially if you're going to be out and about in your amazing BEETLEJOICE creation. Keep practicing, you'll get there! It's all part of the fun of cosplay makeup.
