Lilac Scent Routine
I’ve been waiting to get all the components needed to do this routine for years. Literally. I was so upset when Bath and Body Works didn’t come out with Fresh Cut Lilacs this year but luckily I got what I needed on Mercari. So to start I used the Lilac body wash of course. Followed by the body cream because I didn’t have a lilac scented body oil so I used an unscented body serum instead. Then the matching body mist. For perfume I got the Lilac one from Demeter. It’s ok, I honestly like the Bath and Body Works FCL collection better. I also don’t like how the Demeter one is kinda oily on skin? Every time I sprayed it on my wrists there was a residue I left on my desk at work…I have a Caramel scent from Demeter I didn’t notice this with so I’m not sure if it has to do with the concentration or something? Anyway, it’s ok. Lastly, I even had out my Fresh Cut Lilacs hand soap!! I wish I could’ve done this routine for Easter. Lilac is the epitome of spring to me! That’s all for this time, LMK what you think!!
I've always found that building a scent routine around a single fragrance theme, like lilac, really elevates the entire sensory experience. Starting with a body wash, as mentioned with the Bath & Body Works Fresh Cut Lilacs body wash, sets a clean and aromatic base for the scent. Using a matching body cream immediately after helps to lock in the scent and hydrate the skin, which creates a subtle yet lasting fragrance experience. Since lilac oil variants are not always available, substituting with an unscented body serum is a clever way to keep your skin moisturized without clashing scents. Applying a body mist afterward can freshen and amplify the fragrance, which works great for days when you want an extra boost of scent without being overpowering. I noticed from experience that some Demeter perfumes, including the Lilac one, can feel a bit oily on the skin, which may be due to the concentration or their formula. To minimize any sticky residue, I suggest applying the perfume on clothes or hair strands rather than directly on wrists. This can also help the fragrance linger longer without the oily feel. Adding a themed hand soap like Fresh Cut Lilacs hand soap is a wonderful touch to complete your lilac sensory experience throughout the day. The scent reminds me of early spring, making it an ideal seasonal fragrance that brings a feeling of freshness and renewal. In short, layering your products starting from shower essentials to perfume is key for a cohesive and long-lasting lilac fragrance. If you’re like me and enjoy limited edition or seasonal scents, platforms like Mercari are excellent for finding those rare items to complete your collection and routine. I highly recommend embracing the lilac scent for spring as it truly captures the essence of the season in a gentle, floral way.
