I did it!! I went to therapy and signed myself up for another session next week. I needed this so bad #ivfwithkale #transferprep #ivfjourney #ttccommunity
Starting therapy during an IVF journey can feel both daunting and necessary. From my personal experience, the first appointment was an emotional release as I shared my history and feelings. The therapy session helped me realize that what I was experiencing wasn’t just stress, but a deep trauma response triggered by various aspects of fertility treatments like egg retrieval and transfer prep. One major takeaway was the importance of finding a therapist who understands infertility — someone who has either experienced it themselves or specializes in fertility-related emotional support. This meant I didn't have to explain the basics or my feelings repeatedly, making the process less exhausting and much more validating. Therapy also provided a safe space where I can cry freely without fear of judgment, helping me manage overwhelming emotions that arise unexpectedly. Even daily triggers, such as workplace conversations about forms or procedures related to IVF, no longer hit me as hard. Scheduling weekly sessions gives me consistent support and tools to navigate the emotional rollercoaster. It’s essential for anyone on a similar path to acknowledge that emotional wellness is just as important as physical health during fertility treatments. In sharing this, I hope others feel encouraged to seek therapy if they are struggling silently. It’s okay to ask for help and prioritize mental health through this challenging but hopeful journey. Therapy has truly made me feel less alone and more empowered to keep moving forward with my IVF journey.
