Business I’ve tried with ADHD

... Read moreLiving with ADHD while running a business can be both a creative blessing and a practical challenge. My experience has shown that having a vivid imagination and plenty of ideas isn’t always enough to push a business forward due to difficulties with focus and consistency. For instance, I found photography incredibly fulfilling—scoring it an 8/10 in enjoyment—yet often gave up too soon because maintaining momentum was tough. Similarly, woodburning was another passion project where creativity flourished, but growing the business took patience and perseverance. One surprising success for me was becoming a TikTok influencer, which I rated 9/10. The platform’s dynamic and fast-paced nature suited my ADHD brain because it allowed for creative, bite-sized content bursts. However, even there, sustaining consistency required conscious effort and strategies like scheduling and breaking tasks into manageable chunks. On the other hand, some ventures like doing eyelash sets (rated 2/10) proved to be frustrating and overly time-consuming, showing that certain tasks may not align with ADHD strengths. Running a kids’ boutique scored a middle ground, as I loved the concept but struggled with business management aspects, leading to failure. From these experiences, I learned the importance of picking businesses that match personal rhythms and leveraging platforms or crafts that can accommodate bursts of motivation and creativity. Organization tools, timers, and external accountability helped improve follow-through. For anyone with ADHD considering entrepreneurship, embracing flexibility and being kind to yourself in the process makes a real difference.
