Girl Talk - Motherhood edition

Girl hey,

Got a moment? Please hear me out!

Now, all the mothers of teenage GIRLS please check in. How are you doing? Are you alright? Cause I am NOT FINE but I know that I will be.

Raising our kids in the era of social media is hardddddd, where the hell is MySpace (80’s babies ikyk) when you need them? All we thought about was our background, our music for the week, and our top 8 people 😂.

Gentle parenting is hard especially when that is not what you experienced as a child. What I do know is I was made to be a mom and I’m a damn good one and my childhood made me that way. Lately, my girls have been testing my gangsta 🥷🏽ijs.

You blink at these kids - they ready to go to the darn extreme. Honey chile, I know somebody feel where I’m coming from.

We gone continue to do this gentle parenting, love on these kids, and hopefully teach them the gift of discernment especially when it comes to social media.

Girl, thank you for listening, my rant over! We gone be good, I know it.

Till next time.

Best,

Ro

Social media plays a significant role in shaping their perspectives, making it crucial for mothers to instill healthy habits. Gentle parenting encourages positive emotional connections, helping daughters navigate complex feelings and peer pressure. It is essential to foster open communication between mothers and daughters to discuss the impacts of social media on self-esteem and body image. Experts suggest that by promoting critical thinking skills and discernment, mothers can help their daughters make informed decisions online. Sharing personal experiences can strengthen this bond, making discussions more relatable and effective. Furthermore, mothers can benefit from support networks where they exchange parenting strategies and emotional experiences, creating a community that uplifts and validates each other. Remember, it’s about progress, not perfection, as we all aim to raise confident, resilient young women who thrive in an ever-evolving digital landscape.
