We were just two teenagers falling for each other, navigating homework, proms, and figuring out what we wanted for our futures. Looking back, it feels like a lifetime ago, yet also just yesterday.
One of the biggest questions people ask us is, 'How did you make it work, starting so young, almost like a 10th-grade romance even though we were seniors?' Honestly, it wasn't always easy. We had to learn to grow up together, sometimes even growing apart a little on our individual paths, but always finding our way back to each other. Communication became our superpower. We learned early on that talking through everything – the good, the bad, the uncertain – was key. We supported each other through college applications, different universities, career changes, and all the curveballs life threw our way. Every challenge just made our bond stronger. The key was truly understanding that love isn't static; it evolves, just like we did. We consciously chose to invest in each other's personal growth, celebrating successes and offering unwavering support during setbacks.
I remember so many of our dates back then, just simple things like movie nights or cheering each other on at school events. Now, as we prepare for marriage, we still prioritize those special moments, creating new memories like those beautiful evenings at outdoor lounges, sharing laughs and quiet moments under the neon lights, just like in those photos. It’s those shared experiences, whether big or small, that constantly remind us why we fell in love and how much we cherish our connection. We make sure to keep the romance alive, even after all these years.
We often talk about our future, and it's incredibly exciting to dream together. We envision a home filled with love and laughter, maybe even a few little ones running around someday. The thought of starting our own family and stepping into parenthood is something we both look forward to, whenever the time is right. We’ve even playfully discussed how many children we’d love to have – perhaps three children, or maybe more! For now, we're focused on building a strong foundation for our marriage, but the idea of expanding our family down the line is definitely part of our shared vision.
If I could offer any advice to other young couples, or anyone in a long-term relationship, especially those who started dating young, it would be this: cherish the small moments, communicate openly, and never stop growing together. Love isn't just a feeling; it's a commitment to learning, adapting, and choosing each other every single day. Be each other's biggest cheerleaders and confidants. Seeing our journey from high school sweethearts in 2016 to fiancés planning our wedding next August truly makes me believe in forever. I'm so grateful for our love story and can't wait for our big day!
