Grabbed a quick lunch
Today grabbed a quick lunch at Kroger. I got a sushi platter which always hits. I also tried their new spicy crab onigiri. I was not a fan of that. I feel like it would have been better without the dry rub seasoning on it. #sushilife #eatingsushi #lunchlove
When it comes to grabbing a quick lunch, convenience and taste are key factors for me. Kroger’s sushi platter is a reliable choice because it offers a well-balanced variety of fresh fish and perfect rice—making it ideal for a satisfying midday meal. I usually find myself coming back to this platter because it’s quick to pick up and consistently fresh. Trying new sushi items keeps lunchtime interesting, so I was curious about Kroger’s new spicy crab onigiri. Onigiri, usually known for its simplicity and comforting flavors, can be hit or miss depending on the seasoning and texture. In my experience, the dry rub seasoning on this spicy crab version detracted from the moist and creamy filling that typically defines a good onigiri. I felt it overwhelmed the natural taste, making it a less enjoyable bite. For those considering trying it, I’d recommend either skipping the dry rub or asking if it's possible to have it without that extra seasoning. Sometimes less is more, especially with sushi-inspired dishes where freshness and balance are vital. Overall, if you’re in a rush but want a quick, tasty, and somewhat healthy lunch option, the sushi platter at Kroger remains a dependable favorite. Trying new items like the spicy crab onigiri is exciting but can come with surprises—something I always keep in mind when exploring new flavors during quick lunches.
