l’occitane hand cream review 🌿
let’s begin with the verdict: an absolute 5-star product
at the beginning of the year, i was on the hunt for a hand cream that meet the following criteria:
1. smell - a light scent was okay, but anything with lots of fragrance would be off putting as i did not want it to clash with whatever other scents i was wearing during the day.
2. moisturizing ability - i live in the midwest, an area iconic for it’s humid, hot summers and incredibly bitter, dry and windy winters. i was in desperate need of something that would repair the cracks in my hand, leave them soft and maintain the moisturized feeling for a substantial time (at least a few hours)
3. feeling - on top of the aforementioned, i sought out a cream that was not so heavy that i couldn’t use it in the spring/summer due to heaviness or was so greasy that i could not grip a pen or pencil.
4. cost - everyone has different price points for items that they use! knowing that i use hand cream everyday and care deeply about how it feels, i was okay spending a decent amount dependent on how long a tube may last.
5. ingredients - i have sensitive skin, so the need for a product with safe ingredients that also provides effective results was a MUST.
now, how does l’occitane work when put against this criteria? to begin, the smell is subtle. through my own research i found that some said it was resembling of baby powder or a “grandma” smell. personally, i find the smell quite subtle, clean, and similar to the smell of soft cotton. the scent itself is not strong enough to overpower the perfumes i wear or cause a headache to those around me. the sensation and moisturizing ability of the cram is phenomenal. it not only healed the cracks on my hands, but has kept them smooth, moisturized, and healthy. the cream itself is heavy due to the shea butter ingredients, but does not leave behind a great residue that makes it difficult to grasp objects. i was at first hesitant to buy due to the $30 price, but went for it as a reward after a hard week. absolutely worth it. the tube itself is barely empty after two months and i have been using it multiple times a day since purchased. overall, the product itself, with its shea butter base and natural lipids that hydrate and protect the skin, the l’occitane hand cream is a purchase worth making.
tldr; the l’occitane hand cream is an s-tier product worth the cost!
