Machu Picchu 🤎

... Read moreWow, my trip to Machu Picchu was absolutely beyond words! If you've ever dreamt of visiting one of the world's most incredible wonders, Peru's ancient Inca city truly delivers. I wanted to share a bit about my unforgettable adventure, especially for anyone else planning their own journey. Getting there is an adventure in itself. We flew into Cusco, spent a couple of days adjusting to the altitude and exploring the Sacred Valley, then took the scenic train ride to Aguas Calientes. From there, it’s a short bus ride up the winding mountain road, and then, suddenly, there it is! Stepping onto the site for the first time, you're immediately struck by the sheer scale and ingenuity of the ancient Inca civilization. The way the stone structures blend seamlessly with the natural landscape is just breathtaking. I remember looking out over the expansive vista, seeing the iconic green terraces cascading down the mountainsides, perfect examples of ancient agricultural engineering. On my visit, we were blessed with a beautiful blue sky with fluffy white clouds, which really made the vibrant green of the terraces and the distant peaks pop. Even with a partly cloudy sky, the views were absolutely spectacular, offering a dramatic backdrop for the entire experience. One of the highlights was seeing the prominent Huayna Picchu mountain towering in the background – it's like a natural guardian for the city. Everywhere you look, there's another incredible panoramic view of the Andes, making you feel so tiny yet so connected to something ancient and grand. I even bought a traditional patterned poncho in Cusco, which not only kept me warm during the cooler morning hours but also felt like a fun way to embrace the local culture, just like the person in the picture I took! It’s funny how a simple item can add to the whole experience. For anyone planning a visit, here are a few tips based on my experience: Book in advance: Tickets for Machu Picchu itself and the train sell out, especially during peak season. Acclimatize: Spend a few days in Cusco or the Sacred Valley first to get used to the altitude. Wear layers: The weather can change quickly. A warm poncho or jacket is a great idea! Comfortable shoes are a must: You’ll be doing a lot of walking on uneven ancient paths. Hire a guide: Their insights into the history and significance of the Inca city really enhance the visit. Go early: The earlier you arrive, the fewer crowds you'll encounter, and the better chance you'll have of witnessing a stunning sunrise over the ruins. Machu Picchu isn't just a destination; it's an experience that transports you back in time. Walking through those ancient stone structures, imagining life within this incredible citadel, truly makes you understand why it's considered one of the 7 wonders of the world. It’s an adventure I’ll cherish forever, and I can't recommend it enough!

Still buzzing from yesterday's surreal experience at Machu Picchu. The adventure started with an impromptu karaoke night - nothing like belting out tunes with complete strangers who somehow became instant friends by midnight. Got to bed at 1:30 AM, knowing full well I had to be up by 3:50 AM. P
