Take a trip to Ostrich Land with me

My recent trip to Ostrich Land in Solvang, California, was an absolute blast, and I can't recommend it enough as a unique day out! If you're planning a visit to the charming Danish-inspired town of Solvang, making a stop at Ostrich Land is a must-do to see some amazing wildlife up close. The Ostrich Land Experience: Getting Up Close and Personal One of the biggest draws of Ostrich Land is the chance to interact with these magnificent birds. When you arrive, you have the option to purchase a bowl of food, and then you can head to the fences to feed the ostriches directly! It's such a thrilling experience to watch them come right up to you, ready for a snack. Just like in the images, you'll see people (like me!) in an orange jacket, carefully offering food through the wooden fence. They can be quite eager, so be prepared for some enthusiastic pecking! It's completely safe and incredibly memorable, especially seeing their curious expressions up close. I even managed to capture some hilarious photos. Beyond feeding, you'll also find fun photo opportunities, like the 'Riding High' ostrich cutout board, which makes for some fantastic, silly vacation pictures. Planning Your Ostrich Land Adventure Ostrich Land is conveniently located just outside the main town of Solvang, making it easy to combine with a day of exploring the Dutch architecture and bakeries. It's truly a place to experience if you haven't already! Admission is usually a small fee, and the food for the ostriches is an additional cost, but totally worth it for the interaction. I'd recommend wearing comfortable shoes as you'll be walking around the farm, and maybe a hat and sunscreen if it's a sunny day. The best part is that it's an activity suitable for all ages, perfect for families, couples, or even a solo traveler looking for something different to do in California. More Than Just Ostriches: The Magic of Solvang While the ostriches are the main attraction, don't overlook Solvang itself. It's a cute little town with Dutch decor, windmills, and incredible bakeries. After spending time with the ostriches, you can wander through the streets, grab some authentic Danish pastries, or enjoy a meal at one of the good restaurants. The scenery around Solvang is also breathtaking, with rolling hills and beautiful countryside homes, some with horses and other wildlife. It really rounds out the whole experience, making for a truly unforgettable California getaway. Fun Ostrich Facts to Ponder Ostriches are fascinating creatures! Did you know they are the largest living bird species and can run up to 45 miles per hour? Their eggs are also the largest of any living bird. They have incredibly powerful legs and are surprisingly resilient. Observing them up close at Ostrich Land really makes you appreciate their unique characteristics. It’s a great educational opportunity, too, as you learn about their habits and what makes them such unique inhabitants of our planet.
