... Read moreWhen I first started looking into a career in beauty, I kept wondering, 'what is an esthetician?' Now, after completing my first week at esthetics school, I'm starting to truly understand the depth of this incredible profession. It’s so much more than just giving facials; it’s about understanding skin science, client care, and helping people feel confident in their own skin. My journey to 'becoming an esthetician' officially kicked off at Tricoci University, and my 'Week: 1' has been a whirlwind! If you're curious about 'what do you learn in esthetician school,' let me tell you, it's comprehensive. We started right in the 'classroom,' covering the fundamentals. We delved into skin anatomy, different skin types, common conditions, and the powerful ingredients found in skincare products. It’s fascinating how much science is behind healthy, glowing skin! The instructors make even complex topics engaging and easy to grasp. After the theory, came the exciting part: practical application. We were introduced to our essential 'materials' and began 'practicing express facials' on each other. It felt a little nerve-wracking at first, but also incredibly rewarding to put our new knowledge to use. Learning proper techniques for cleansing, toning, and moisturizing, along with gentle massage, was a real highlight. The hands-on experience is truly invaluable, and it makes all the classroom learning click into place. Every day, I'm learning, growing, and loving every second of this journey. For anyone considering this path and wondering 'how to be an esthetician,' it typically involves enrolling in a state-approved program like mine, mastering the curriculum, and passing licensing exams. It definitely requires dedication, but if you have a passion for skincare, it’s worth it. A question I often encountered, and one we even touched upon, is the difference between 'esthetic vs aesthetic.' Essentially, 'esthetic' (as in esthetician) refers specifically to beauty and appearance related to skin and body care, while 'aesthetic' is a broader term encompassing the philosophy of beauty in art and nature generally. So, an esthetician focuses squarely on the 'esthetics definition' within skincare. My 'first week complete' has left me excited for what's next. It’s clear that 'becoming an esthetician' is a continuous learning process, but one that is deeply fulfilling. I'm so glad I took this leap into the world of esthetics!
