4 Things I’m Changing to Make Getting Dressed Easier as a Mom

Becoming a mom didn’t make me care less about fashion—it changed what I need from my clothes.

Lately, I’ve been slowly redefining my wardrobe around the life I actually live:

🤍 Softer, breathable fabrics like cotton + linen

💛 More color mixed into my mostly-neutral wardrobe

👖 Looser, more comfortable silhouettes

✨ Fewer trends and more pieces I genuinely feel good wearing

And one thing I’m realizing: redefining your style doesn’t necessarily mean buying an entirely new wardrobe.

Your new style might already be sitting in your closet—it could just be hidden behind the pieces that no longer fit your life.

🛟Save this for the next time you feel like your wardrobe isn’t working anymore, but you’re not sure where to start.

Before buying something new, start by noticing what no longer serves you—and make room for the pieces that do.

Transitioning to soft, breathable fabrics like cotton and linen has made a huge difference in how I feel throughout the day. Whether I’m chasing after my daughter or working from home, having outfits that breathe and move with me prevents discomfort and keeps me energized. Adding more color to what used to be a very neutral wardrobe has also been surprisingly uplifting. I started weaving in gentle tones like soft blues, sage green, and butter yellow. These colors not only brighten my outfits but also create joyful little moments—like when my daughter recognized and loved my pink top because it’s her favorite color. I never expected fashion to become this playful, but it definitely helps me connect with my role as a mom in a fun way. I’ve also learned to embrace looser, more relaxed silhouettes. Leggings used to be my go-to, but now I opt for relaxed denim, linen pants, and breezy dresses that allow for easy movement. Recently, I tried bike shorts, thinking they’d be the perfect blend of comfort and style—but they just weren’t me. It’s empowering to realize that I can choose what feels good on my body rather than following every trend. One of the biggest takeaways has been the importance of genuinely feeling good in what I wear. It’s about having fewer trend-driven pieces and more timeless items that align with the life I’m living now. Interestingly, I didn’t need to buy a completely new wardrobe; many of these pieces were already in my closet but overshadowed by clothes that no longer suited my day-to-day. If you’re a mom feeling overwhelmed by your wardrobe, I recommend starting by identifying what doesn’t serve you anymore and making space for pieces that truly fit your lifestyle and bring you joy. This small mindset shift has helped me rebuild my style in a sustainable, practical, and fulfilling way.
