Okay, so in my quick initial review, I mentioned some of my first thoughts on Alani Nu energy drinks, especially how some of the slush flavors hit me as a bit too sweet. But after diving deeper and trying out even more cans (and yes, looking at those tempting packets!), I've gathered a lot more to share with you all! First, let's talk about those slush flavors. While the "cherry slush" (5/10 for me) and "blue slush" (6/10) certainly have their fans, I found them incredibly intense. It's like a sugar rush right from the first sip, almost overpowering the actual fruit notes. The "tropical shaved ice" (another 6/10) was similar – refreshing, but still on the sweeter side. If you're someone who loves super sweet drinks, these might be your jam, but for my palate, I often find myself diluting them with a bit of plain seltzer or pouring them over a mountain of ice to cut through the sweetness. It’s a personal preference, of course, but I think it’s worth noting if you’re not a huge fan of overly sugary tastes. Now, about those Alani Nu packets! I saw them on the shelves and, just like the original post wondered, 'Are they worth buying?' I finally decided to try them out, and here’s my take. They are definitely convenient for on-the-go or for saving space if you buy in bulk. The flavors I tried (which mirrored some of the can options) were pretty consistent. The biggest pro is the portability and often the cost-effectiveness if you want to make a larger drink or control the intensity of the flavor yourself. For instance, if you find the cans too sweet, you can mix the packet with more water. However, I sometimes find the powdered texture leaves a slight aftertaste or doesn't dissolve perfectly, even with vigorous shaking. So, while they are a good option for variety and convenience, I personally lean towards the cans for that consistent, ready-to-drink experience—but don't count the packets out if you're looking for a more budget-friendly or customizable option! Moving on to the real winners in my book! After trying so many, a few Alani Nu flavors truly stood out. The "sherbet swirl" was an absolute revelation, earning a solid 9.5/10! It’s creamy, tangy, and perfectly balanced – like a dessert in a can without being overly sweet. It's quickly become my go-to when I want something truly indulgent. Another fantastic one was the space-themed flavor (8/10), which had a unique, fruity, almost candy-like profile that was surprisingly refreshing and didn't taste artificial. And we can't forget the "ice cream orange" (also 8/10) – it perfectly captures that creamsicle vibe, smooth and nostalgic. On the other end, the "watermelon" (1/10) was a big miss for me; it just didn't hit the mark and tasted quite artificial. The "peach" flavor (7/10) was decent, a good middle-of-the-road option if you like classic fruit flavors, but it didn't have that 'wow' factor of the sherbet or space-themed ones. Overall, my Alani Nu journey has been quite an adventure! There's such a wide range of flavors, and it really comes down to personal taste. My best advice is to try a few different ones, especially the highly-rated ones like Sherbet Swirl or Ice Cream Orange, and don't be afraid to experiment with the packets if you're curious.
