จากประสบการณ์ส่วนตัวที่อยู่ในพื้นที่ภาคเหนือ พบว่าปัญหาฝุ่น PM2.5 ในช่วงต้นปีที่ผ่านมารุนแรงขึ้นทุกปี โดยเฉพาะสถานการณ์ในเชียงใหม่ที่สัญญาณควันและฝุ่นเริ่มชัดเจนตั้งแต่เดือนกุมภาพันธ์ การเผาป่าซึ่งเป็นสาเหตุหลัก ไม่เพียงแต่ส่งผลกระทบต่อสุขภาพคนในพื้นที่เท่านั้น แต่ยังส่งผลต่อความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพและภูมิอากาศในระยะยาว ในมุมของชุมชน พบว่าการเผาป่าบางครั้งมาจากความจำเป็นของเกษตรกรที่ต้องการพื้นที่เพาะปลูกใหม่ หรือเป็นวิธีจัดการเศษวัสดุเหลือใช้ แต่ก็มีกลุ่มที่เห็นแก่ได้ประโยชน์ส่วนตัวจนไม่คำนึงถึงผลกระทบร้ายแรงที่ตามมา การแก้ไขปัญหานอกจากมาตรการฝนหลวงและฝนเทียม ยังต้องมีการบูรณาการหน่วยงานภาครัฐเข้มงวดกวดขันกฎระเบียบ และให้ความรู้กับชาวบ้านในพื้นที่อย่างต่อเนื่อง ทั้งนี้ การร่วมมือจากประชาชนในการงดเผา ใช้วิธีการเกษตรเชิงอนุรักษ์ รวมถึงร่วมกันเฝ้าระวังและรายงานเหตุการณ์เผาป่าจะช่วยลดต้นตอปัญหาได้มาก ด้วยความที่เชียงใหม่เป็นเมืองท่องเที่ยวสำคัญ หากฝุ่นควันยังคงรุนแรงเป็นเวลานาน จะส่งผลต่อเศรษฐกิจในภาพรวมอย่างมาก หวังว่าภาครัฐและประชาชนทุกฝ่ายจะร่วมมือกันแก้ไขปัญหานี้อย่างจริงจัง เพื่อคืนอากาศบริสุทธิ์และสิ่งแวดล้อมที่ดีให้กับเชียงใหม่ในเร็ววัน สุดท้ายอยากขอให้ทุกคนดูแลสุขภาพโดยเฉพาะผู้ป่วยโรคทางเดินหายใจและเด็กเล็ก หลีกเลี่ยงกิจกรรมกลางแจ้งในช่วงที่ฝุ่นควันสูง และใช้หน้ากากอนามัยที่ได้มาตรฐานเพื่อป้องกันฝุ่นละอองขนาดเล็ก PM2.5 อย่างเต็มที่
