I used to listen to light dimmers.
It’s sad but it’s the truth. I don’t like admitting it but I have to it I expect to see growth. The fourteen year old version of me would give me the finger and ask me, “what the hell am I doing listening to those jacka$$es!?”
Well, it’s a long story. For now, I will say that I lost myself there for a sec but it’s getting better now. I used to listen to the people that would say, “She is not going to remember this” or “it’s a waste of time and effort.” My daughter’s childhood is a gift. It’s special because it will help build her belief system. It will mold the way she sees the world. I take that pretty seriously (which is ironic because I try to not take anything too seriously).
I’ve been making her notes for lunch for about 4 years now. She has kept them all and she looks forward to them. It allows me to be creative, practice drawing, and I connect with my daughter. All I see are positive reasons to do it. Especially if it spreads joy and love. 😊 🥰
Here is today’s lunch and lunch note.
Creating lunch notes for your child is more than just a daily routine—it’s a powerful way to nurture connection and leave lasting memories. Many parents find that these small gestures not only brighten their child’s day but also serve as a creative outlet that strengthens the parent-child bond. Drawing or writing little messages can stimulate a child's imagination and show them they are deeply loved and supported. The practice of making lunch notes has emotional benefits as well. It encourages positive communication and reinforces a child’s self-esteem by reminding them they are thought of during their school day. Over time, these notes can become treasured keepsakes that children revisit, helping them reflect on the warmth and encouragement they received while growing up. Moreover, such thoughtful acts combat negative voices that may tell parents their efforts don’t matter. Childhood experiences are foundational, shaping how children perceive themselves and the world. Parents who consistently invest love and creativity, even through small gestures like lunch notes, are contributing to a resilient and positive belief system in their children. For parents who enjoy art or want to cultivate a creative habit, lunch notes provide a daily opportunity to practice drawing and personal expression. Whether it’s a simple doodle, a motivational quote, or an inside joke, each note can be tailored to your child’s personality, making lunchtime feel special. In a fast-paced world where screen time often dominates, hand-written notes stand out as an authentic, tangible expression of care. They help cultivate mindfulness and presence, reminding both parent and child to appreciate the moment. This ritual can also foster gratitude and curiosity, enriching the everyday experience of parenthood and childhood alike. In summary, lunch notes are a unique blend of art, love, and communication that help build joyful and meaningful memories. They reinforce the importance of cherishing childhood and believe in the power of simple yet thoughtful acts to transform daily life.
