On Day 61 of my writing journey, I've reached significant milestones in my novel preparation. Outlining is a critical step in the writing process that can truly streamline your creative flow. Many writers find that creating chapter summaries not only makes it easier to see the bigger picture but also maintains coherence across multiple books. Understanding your plot arcs and character development upfront can save time during the drafting phase. Whether you're working on your first draft or revising an existing manuscript, techniques like mind mapping or utilizing outlining software can be beneficial. As I explored these methods today, I reflected on my favorite parts of creative writing—finding inspiration and crafting rich, multidimensional characters—and my least favorite aspects, which often include the relentless self-editing phase.
