It’s important to recognize how such negativity impacts not only the individual who shares or reposts but also the community around them. When individuals repeatedly share what could be called "the vilest" or most disingenuous material, it can foster mistrust and perpetuate a toxic online environment. I have noticed that this kind of content often lingers in our feeds, leaving us with lingering feelings of anger or frustration, sometimes even affecting sleep and causing stress dreams, much like the emotions expressed in the OCR content. It’s vital to unpack these feelings rather than suppress them, acknowledging the emotional disturbance and seeking supportive conversations or communities that value positivity and authenticity. One helpful approach I've adopted is curating my social media feeds to limit exposure to unnecessarily negative reposts and focusing instead on content that uplifts or educates. Additionally, engaging in open dialogues with friends or followers about the nature of online discourse can help shed light on how frequent reposting of "bullshit" content affects mental health. Ultimately, by understanding the emotional impact of such reposting behavior and consciously choosing how we engage with digital content, we can contribute to a healthier online environment and protect our own well-being from the stress and negativity that might otherwise accumulate.
