ALWAYS TAME WILD HORSE #RDR2

Hey fellow RDR2 adventurers! I wanted to share some expanded thoughts on taming wild horses, especially since I've gotten so many questions about finding and bonding with them beyond just getting on their backs. The basic trick of hitting that left directional button is truly the ONLY EASIEST WAY TO TAME HORSE once you're mounted, but there's a bit more to it that can make your whole experience smoother and more rewarding. First off, spotting a wild horse you want can be a challenge. I've had the best luck finding Arabian horses (which are fantastic!) in the snowy regions up north, especially around Lake Isabella. Other strong breeds like Mustangs, Nokotas, and Hungarian Halfbreds can be found all over the plains and open areas. Once you've got your target, approach slowly and cautiously. You don't want to spook them. Use your binoculars to study them from a distance to confirm it's the breed you're looking for. Then, dismount your current horse and creep towards the wild one, continuously pressing the 'calm' button (usually square on PlayStation, X on Xbox). This keeps their fear level down, allowing you to get close enough to mount. Now, for the exhilarating part – once you're on its back, it's a rodeo! The article mentions hitting the left directional button, and that's absolutely key. What you're doing is constantly counter-balancing the horse's bucking. If it bucks left, steer right; if it bucks right, steer left. It’s a bit like trying to keep a balance meter in the middle. The goal is to keep the white bar from depleting fully. Just keep hammering that left stick in the opposite direction of its movement, and eventually, a message will pop up saying the horse is broken. Sometimes, it might take a few tries, especially with feistier breeds, but persist! It feels so good when you finally get that 'bond horse' notification. After you've successfully tamed it, the journey isn't over! You need to build a bond with your new companion. This is crucial for unlocking special maneuvers and improving its stats like health and stamina. My personal tips for quick bonding include: riding it everywhere, feeding it regularly (oats and hay are cheap and effective), cleaning it when it gets dirty, and leading it by the reins. Every little action adds to that bond level. I always make sure to put my saddle on it as soon as possible too, which makes it 'your' horse officially and saves its progress if you die or it runs off. It’s an incredibly practical step, especially if you've trekked far to find a rare breed. So go out there, find your dream steed, and enjoy the ride, cowboy!
