My first shift at Dunkin/Baskin! 💗

It went surprisingly well but i have a feeling there is going to be a lot of drama at this job because of all the females. I learnt iced coffees today but still have drive thru/espresso/sandwhich station and baskin. It’s so weird working morning shifts considering i’m so used to night shift but i’m trying to think of it in a positive light. overall everyone was really sweet and calm with me which is more then i can say about myself. My past couple of jobs made me a nervous wreck on my first day and my anxiety would cause me to vomit. This is my third job and i’m so happy that i didn’t get that sick even though my social anxiety was still really bad. I’m grateful i knew a few workers already and that they could make me feel more comfortable.

Have you ever experienced anxiety when starting a new job? If so, how did you cope? ⭐️

... Read moreOkay, so my first shift at Dunkin'/Baskin' wasn't exactly what I expected, but it definitely gave me a taste of what it's like to be part of the crew! Beyond just learning how to whip up those iced coffees, I've realized there's so much more to mastering the ropes here. For anyone wondering what it's really like working at Dunkin' or Baskin-Robbins, especially after that initial training, let me spill some more beans (or sprinkles!). After getting over the first-day jitters and thankfully not getting too sick from anxiety, I've been diving deeper into the daily grind. Learning the drive-thru, espresso machine, and sandwich station felt like mastering a whole new language. Each station has its own rhythm, and getting everything right, especially during rush hour, is a real test of speed and accuracy. It's not just about making drinks; it's about making someone's day start right, often in a matter of seconds. You truly feel like an essential part of people's morning routines, making sure they get their caffeine fix or a sweet treat. One thing I've quickly learned is the importance of teamwork. My initial apprehension about "drama" with all the females has actually turned into a surprising sense of camaraderie. Everyone relies on each other to keep things moving smoothly. Whether it's restocking supplies, helping a new person (like me!) remember an order, or just a quick encouraging word, the team really does make a difference. It’s a very fast-paced environment, and you're always on your feet, but there’s a real energy to it that can be quite motivating. Adjusting to morning shifts has been an interesting challenge. Waking up before the sun is still a novelty, but there's something peaceful about it before the store opens. Then, boom, the doors open, and it's a whirlwind of orders, smiles, and sometimes, a few tricky requests. You learn to multitask like a pro, all while keeping a friendly face. For anyone thinking about joining the Dunkin'/Baskin' family, I'd say be ready for a dynamic environment. It's not just about making coffee or scooping ice cream; it's about quick thinking, customer service, and working as a unit. My biggest tip? Don't be afraid to ask questions – everyone's been new once! And remember to breathe. The anxiety of starting a new job is real, but finding a supportive team, like I have, makes all the difference. It's a job where you definitely 'run on you' – fueled by caffeine and the satisfaction of a busy, well-run shift!
