Laundry Day.. tips

Laundry day!!

I used to not be a big fan of laundry day, mostly having a big pile of clothes ready to be put away.

It’s now something I enjoy, I love having clean clothes and taking care of me and my husband so I had to find a way to kinda enjoy laundry day.

Tips:

🧺Plan a day or a few hours to just stay home and do laundry.

🧺 have a clean space so you don’t get overwhelmed.

🧺 separate clean clothes in “categories” to try and keep a clear mind & I think it makes things move along faster.

🧺 listen to music, podcasts, audio book or throw a movie on in the background!

🧺 Get a snack

🧺 have your S/O help!

🧺 sometime me just have to pray and ask god for some motivation!

These are some tips that I learned! I hope they help!

... Read moreOh, laundry day! While the original tips definitely helped me tackle the washing and drying, I know the biggest battle for many, including my past self, is actually *putting away your clothes*. That mountain of clean laundry can feel even more daunting than the dirty pile! Trust me, I've been there, staring at baskets of fresh clothes, wondering where to even begin. Beyond the initial motivation to get the machines running, how do we keep that momentum going to actually finish the job? Here’s what I’ve learned about conquering the 'put away' phase and keeping motivation high throughout: Conquering the 'Put Away Your Clothes' Mountain: Categorize Like a Pro: This was a game-changer for me. As soon as clothes come out of the dryer (or off the line), I immediately sort them. Think 'Towels/rags' for the bathroom, 'Socks' together, 'Boxers/Undies' into their drawer, 'Muscle Shirts' folded for the gym, 'Sweat pants' for lounging, and 'Clothes to Hang' directly onto hangers. This visual organization makes the next step so much faster. I even found myself humming a tune while doing it! Focus on One Pile at a Time: Instead of looking at the entire bed covered in clothes, I pick one category – say, all the 'Socks' – and put them away. Then I move to the 'Towels/rags'. This breaks down a huge task into small, achievable wins, preventing overwhelm. Designate a 'Clean Ready Area': Before I even start folding, I make sure my bed or a clear table is ready. This isn't just about having space; it's about setting up a dedicated 'work station' that feels organized and inviting, not just another spot to dump clothes. The 'One-Touch' Rule: If possible, try to put clothes directly where they belong as soon as you touch them. No temporary piles! For example, 'Clothes to Hang' go straight from the dryer to a hanger, then directly into the closet. Listen to Your Entertainment: Just like washing, folding and putting away goes by so much faster when I have my favorite podcast, audiobook, or even a movie on in the background. It turns a mundane task into a multi-tasking win! Immediate Gratification: Once an item is put away, you get that small burst of dopamine. Lean into that! Celebrate each basket emptied, each drawer filled. Visualize the End Result: Imagine your tidy room, your neat drawers, and the feeling of accomplishment. This mental picture can be a powerful motivator when you’re tempted to leave things for 'later.' Boosting Your Laundry Motivation (Even When You're Drained): The 15-Minute Burst: Can't face it all? Set a timer for 15 minutes and just do *something*. Fold one basket, put away all the socks. You'd be surprised how much you can get done, and often, that initial push is all you need to keep going. Reward Yourself: Finished a load, folded and put away? Treat yourself! A cup of tea, a chapter of a book, or a few minutes of your favorite show. Small rewards can make a big difference. Make it a Ritual: Instead of a chore, try to view laundry day as a self-care ritual – taking care of your clothes, your home, and ultimately, yourself. I sometimes even light a candle! These additions have truly helped me transform my laundry routine from a dreaded task into something I can manage with a smile. Hope they help you too!
