Shade: Moody🤍✨🫶

Okay, so I finally got my hands on the much-talked-about NYX Powder Puff Lippie in the shade PPL07, famously known as 'Moody.' I'd seen so many swatches online of this gorgeous reddish-purple lip cream, and I just had to try it for myself. I'm always on the hunt for comfortable, matte lip products that don't dry out my lips, and the 'powder puff' concept really intrigued me. First off, let's talk about the shade. 'Moody' is absolutely stunning. It's this beautiful, deep reddish-purple that feels perfect for any season, adding a touch of sophistication without being too vampy. It's one of those colors that just makes you feel a bit more put-together, even on a casual day. The finish is a soft, blurred matte – exactly what I was hoping for. It gives that trendy, diffused lip look that's so popular right now, and it feels incredibly lightweight on the lips, almost like wearing nothing at all. Now, for the part that made me rate it only two stars in my initial thoughts: the applicator. Oh, the applicator! This is where the 'difficult to use' part comes in. It's a soft, cushiony sponge applicator, which sounds great in theory, but in practice, it can be a bit messy and tricky to get a precise application. The product tends to dispense a lot at once, and it’s hard to control the edges of your lips, especially with such a deep shade like 'Moody.' I found myself constantly needing to clean up around my lip line, which isn't ideal when you're in a rush. It also doesn't pick up enough product sometimes, leading to uneven application, and I have to squeeze the tube quite a bit. Despite the applicator woes, I've found a few tricks to make this work. My biggest tip is to apply a very small amount to the center of your lips and then gently diffuse it outwards with your finger or a separate lip brush. This helps achieve that soft, blurred effect without the mess. Lining your lips beforehand with a matching lip liner can also make a huge difference in getting a crisp edge. As for wear time, it's decent for a comfortable matte formula. It's not transfer-proof, especially after eating or drinking, so expect to reapply, particularly in the center of your lips. However, the reapplication isn't difficult once you get the hang of the product, and it doesn't get clumpy or cakey. It fades gracefully, leaving a nice stain behind. The formula itself is non-drying, which is a huge plus for me, as many matte lip products leave my lips feeling parched. Overall, my honest review is that the NYX Powder Puff Lippie in 'Moody' is a bit of a mixed bag. The shade and formula are absolutely divine – comfortable, beautiful, and on-trend. But the applicator definitely makes it a challenge, which is why I initially gave it a lower rating. If you're patient and willing to work with it, or if you don't mind using a separate brush, then this reddish-purple lip cream could be a fantastic addition to your collection. It’s got potential, but that applicator definitely needs some tweaking!
