I’m here to share with you a love for what I do every day! And Sky is a major part of that journey for me. As a vet tech we struggle with loss and grief. It’s hard to let go and see the horrific things we do sometimes. However, in small miracle moments like when I first met Sky, I found peace in the joy of what I do everyday.
I thought he was stillborn. His mother was so sick and we thought her babies didn’t make it. But against all odds he pulled through and he’s here today as a reminder that I make a difference. #veterinarynurse #veterinarymedicine #vettech #vettechlife #passion
In veterinary practice, moments of triumph amid despair can redefine our purpose. Many vet techs navigate the heavy burden of loss while cherishing the small victories that remind them of their impact. The experience of witnessing a miracle, as I did with Sky, reinforces why we commit to this profession. It’s crucial to acknowledge the emotional toll that caring for sick or at-risk animals takes on vet techs. Coping mechanisms, such as sharing stories and experiences with peers through platforms like #vettechlife and forums, help to foster resilience. Building a support community can enhance mental well-being for professionals who face both heartbreaking and heartwarming moments daily. Strengthening the bond between animals and their caregivers is fundamental in veterinary medicine, reminding us all why we chose this path. Moreover, posting on social media about these experiences connects us with others who share similar journeys, fostering a sense of belonging. Sharing pictures and stories about pets, like asking others to post their pets from when they were brought home, creates a more profound connection within the veterinary community.
