MAKING CHICKEN PURÉE FOR MY 7-MONTH OLD

Making chicken purée for my daughter!

HOW I MADE IT:

1. Gather ingredients: chicken breast or thigh, bone broth, and liquid of choice (breastmilk, formula, or water)

2. Chop up your chicken into smaller pieces

3. Add your chicken and bone broth to a pot (I used enough bone broth to cover the chicken) and set to medium/high heat to bring to a boil

4. Once your broth has come to a boil, cover your pot and bring the heat down to low. Let it simmer for about 15 minutes.

5. Strain your chicken pieces and let it cool down before adding it to your blender along with either breastmilk, formula, or water to help thin it out. You’ll need more liquid for this purée than most others if you have made previous ones (I ended up adding much more liquid than shown in the picture)

6. Blend thoroughly!

7. Serve or store

Chicken is not only rich in protein but also packed with essential nutrients, which makes it an ideal food choice for growing babies. When preparing chicken purée, it's important to use high-quality ingredients for optimal nutrition. Look for free-range or organic chicken to avoid additives and ensure the best for your child. Bone broth can be a fantastic addition, as it enhances flavor and adds vitamins. Make sure to simmer the chicken in broth to lock in moisture and nutrients. After cooking, blending the chicken with a little breastmilk, formula, or water ensures a smooth consistency that's easy for babies to digest. Don't hesitate to adjust the liquid amount based on your preferred thickness; a thinner texture can be helpful for babies just starting on solids. Remember to always check for allergies when introducing new foods to your baby. Initially, try small amounts and observe for any adverse reactions. In addition to chicken, incorporating other pureed vegetables or fruits can offer a range of flavors and nutrients to your baby's diet. Enjoy this journey of introducing your little one to these exciting new foods!
