This is your friendly reminder to shop from mama’s registry when buying gifts for a baby shower!
When I was pregnant I spent hours and hours creating the perfect registry for us and researched until my brain hurt on every single thing I put on there 😂. So then when people buy random stuff it does hurt just a little 😅 (not that we don’t appreciate it anyways!). We also ended up with a lot of extra stuff that we didn’t really have room for especially when we moved to a smaller house so we had to cram a lot of stuff because I would feel bad giving away something that someone gave me! It’s always very appreciated by moms when you shop from their registry because baby gear can get very expensive and we end up usually just buying whatever is left on there 😊.
On another note, so excited for another one of my friends to be having a baby!! It’s so much fun being on the other side of the baby shower as well :)
... Read moreOkay, mamas-to-be and gift-givers, let's chat about baby shower baskets! While my original post highlighted the absolute gold standard of shopping from a registry (seriously, it saves so much hassle and ensures mom gets what she really needs!), I totally get the desire to add that special, personal touch or even craft a full 'DIY baby shower basket' when you want something extra unique or if the registry is a bit sparse. It’s so much fun to get creative once you’ve covered the essentials, or to put together a thoughtful prize for a game!
So, you want to put together a truly memorable and practical baby shower basket? Here’s how I approach it. First, think about a theme. This helps keep your basket cohesive and useful. Popular themes include 'Bath Time Bliss,' 'Sweet Dreams,' 'First Playtime Fun,' or 'On-the-Go Essentials.'
Once you have a theme, start gathering your items. For a 'Sweet Dreams' basket, you could include a cozy blanket, a soft plush bunny (like the one I actually picked up as a little extra thing!), maybe a gentle baby lotion, and definitely a baby sound machine – those soothing sounds are a lifesaver for new parents! If you're leaning towards 'First Playtime Fun,' consider including a children's cognitive stacking toy to encourage early development, some colorful baby maracas for sensory exploration, and maybe a soft board book.
For a 'Newborn Essentials' basket, which is always a hit, you could add things like a baby brush and comb set, gentle baby wash, a few burp cloths, and maybe some cute booties. Don't forget that practical items, even if they seem mundane, are incredibly appreciated. Think about high-quality diapers (a small pack, just to start!), sensitive baby wipes, and perhaps a thermometer.
When assembling your homemade baby boy gift baskets or any baby basket, remember presentation. Choose a cute, reusable basket or even a large cloth diaper caddy that the parents can use later. Line it with soft tissue paper or a small receiving blanket. Arrange items neatly, placing taller items at the back. You can even tie a big bow around it or add a personalized tag.
My best tip for creating unique baby shower gifts within a basket is to combine one or two registry items with a few thoughtful additions of your own. This way, you’re hitting both practical needs and adding that personal, 'I thought of you' touch. For instance, if the registry has a specific car seat, you could build a 'Travel Ready' basket around it with a car seat cover, a mirror for the back seat, and some small, attachable toys.
Ultimately, the goal is to show love and support to the expecting parents. Whether it’s a meticulously curated registry gift or a lovingly assembled diy baby gift basket, anything given with thought and care will be cherished.
Slay for sticking to the registry ❤️ Mamas work hard to make those and I find it rude when people don’t stick to what the parents to be decided would be best for their child.
