Hoshiko Mizudori💚

After spending so much time drawing Hoshiko Mizudori for my latest fanart piece, I got thinking more about her role in Yandere Simulator and why she's such an interesting character to depict! For those of you who might not know her well, Hoshiko is one of the infamous bullies at Akademi High. She's easily recognizable by her distinctive appearance, which was so much fun to capture in both my digital illustration and the hand-drawn sketch in my sketchbook. You know, her iconic look truly sets her apart. She’s often seen in her classic sailor uniform, always with that stylish green jacket tied around her waist. And let's not forget her unique blonde hair with those vibrant green and blue streaks – it really makes her stand out, fitting her 'Yandere Simulator Bully (green)' persona perfectly. In my fanart, I tried to convey her somewhat aloof or sassy personality, whether she’s holding her phone or making a peace sign, as seen in the digital piece. It's fascinating how much personality you can pack into a single illustration! Delving a little deeper, Hoshiko, like the other bullies, plays a significant part in the game's social dynamics. While the game provides limited direct backstory for each individual bully, we understand their collective role: they’re the popular, intimidating girls who often make other students' lives difficult. They thrive on gossip, maintaining their social status, and can be quite cruel. For Hoshiko, specifically, her 'green' aesthetic might hint at a certain envy or a desire to be seen as dominant. Players often look into these subtle cues to understand the characters better. We know she's part of a group that can make or break a student's reputation, and avoiding their attention (or gaining their favor) is often key for Ayano Aishi. When I was drawing her, I imagined what her 'likes and dislikes' might be. Given her persona, she probably loves attention, fashion, social media, and being at the top of the social hierarchy. Dislikes? Perhaps being ignored, people who challenge her authority, or anyone who doesn't fit her idea of 'cool.' It’s the kind of depth that makes characters like Hoshiko so engaging to draw and explore, even if their in-game lore is brief. The Yandere Simulator bullies, as a group, are a fascinating aspect of the game. They represent the everyday social challenges and pressures that can exist in a high school setting, albeit in an exaggerated, game-specific way. Drawing Hoshiko has definitely made me want to explore the other bullies, like Kokoro Momoi or Kizana Sunobu, and really dive into their unique looks and imagined personalities. It’s a great way to connect with the game and its characters on a different level. I truly enjoyed the process of bringing her to life on the page, from the detailed digital illustration to the more spontaneous hand-drawn sketch in my sketchbook. It’s always rewarding to see a character take shape through art!
