💭 ✨ NYFW✨💭
As season SS25 passed in #nyfw … I just wanna give my thoughts on the matter for New upcoming artist.
• I mean I’m fairly new myself but I was in the industry for 3 years and I already worked w/ celebrities like Alicia Keys and Tone Stith…
So NYFW in general to me is exciting but you just gotta be mentally prepared for the run arounds. Meaning
• doing 30+ models in 1 show
• early call times ( 6 am u have to be on site)
• sometimes doing whole shows on your own
Also you gotta be prepared for free labor. Yes I said it free! Unfortunately that’s how NYFW works like it’s only for the experience and you getting paid for the “experience” which sucks but you gotta think of your kit too!
You won’t get recognition in big magazines!!!
So I struggled with this during NYFW especially if you work under a Head Makeup artist.
Multiple times my work was shown in Vogue, WWD, CFDA and Hypebeast!!! However the key or the head MUA gets the recognition because they were hired by the PR team or agency!
Basically NYFW is fun is exciting and I’m not trying to discourage anyone! NYFW looks very good on your resume especially which shows you worked under!!! But if you feel you don’t have the mental capacity don’t do it because it can be mentally draining 💖

As the fashion industry evolves, NYFW continues to be a pivotal event for emerging talent looking to establish themselves. The SS25 season highlighted new trends, offering a unique platform for creativity and expression. Young artists should harness this opportunity while managing the overwhelming pace of shows that can entail over 30 models per event and early start times. The industry's reliance on unpaid internships underscores the necessity of gainful experience. Important publications like Vogue and WWD shape the industry's narrative, and despite the challenges, collaborating with renowned professionals can lead to significant career advancements. Networking during NYFW is as crucial as honing one’s craft, providing connections that enhance future opportunities. This mix of high pressure and high reward makes NYFW a rite of passage for aspiring designers and makeup artists alike, offering invaluable experience that can propel their careers to greater heights.
