His Plan
“Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is.” - 1 John 3:2
We often believe God’s plan begins when our prayers are answered. But what if His plan is unfolding precisely in the waiting? The prayers He delayed. The doors He closed. The hardships He allowed. The dreams He reshaped.
What if they were never obstacles to His will? What if they were His will? We cannot see what God sees. Left to ourselves, we mistake comfort for blessing and pain for abandonment. Yet Jesus Christ entered our suffering, submitted to the Father’s will (Luke 22:42), and endured the cross that looked like failure but became salvation (Romans 5:6). The resurrection proved that God is always working beyond what human eyes can see.
The same Jesus now shapes us through every season. “It has not yet been revealed what we shall be” (1 John 3:2), but we know He is making us like Himself.

Reflecting on God's plan reminds me that waiting is often a significant part of spiritual growth. Like the verses in Romans 5:3-4 suggest, problems and trials aren't merely obstacles but tools God uses to build endurance and strengthen character. I've personally experienced situations where unanswered prayers or delayed dreams initially brought confusion and disappointment. Yet, over time, these periods of waiting reshaped my perspective and deepened my faith. For example, once I faced a career setback after praying earnestly for a specific opportunity. Initially, I saw this as a closed door, but later I realized it was a redirection toward a path that aligned better with my values and enabled me to serve others more effectively. This echoed the truth that "all things work together for good to those who love God" (Romans 8:28). Understanding that God molds us through suffering and waiting has helped me trust His timing and wisdom even when outcomes differ from my desires. Moreover, the concept that we will be made like Christ (1 John 3:2) encourages patience and hope. Transformation is often unseen but ongoing. Life's hardships and reshaped dreams are not detours but essential elements of God’s design to conform us to His image. I have found praying for trust and abiding in God’s presence crucial, especially when I cannot understand His ways fully. In community with others who share this journey, sharing such experiences fosters encouragement and reminds us that God’s plan is always bigger than our immediate circumstances. Embracing the waiting season can be a powerful way to grow in faith, endurance, and confident hope of salvation.
