The Wonder of Mercy

Most of us wrestle with why God judges sin, but Scripture leads us to a greater question: Why would a holy God save sinners at all? We were spiritually dead and unable to rescue ourselves (Ephesians 2:1-5). No amount of goodness could erase our guilt or reconcile us to God.
Yet the Father sent His Son. Jesus Christ took on flesh (John 1:14), lived the perfect life we could never live, and willingly went to the cross to bear the judgment our sins deserved (2 Corinthians 5:21). Three days later He rose from the grave, defeating sin and death forever (1 Corinthians 15:3–4). Now everyone who repents, and trusts in Him receives forgiveness, righteousness, and eternal life; not because we earned it, but because grace is God’s gift.
The greatest mystery is not that God judges sinners. The greatest mystery is that He saves any of us through Jesus Christ.
