Hyundai Mobis developed the e-Corner System with wheel modules that can rotate up to 90 degrees, allowing an EV to move sideways into tight parking spaces.
The system enables unusual maneuvers including Crab Driving, Zero Turn, Pivot Turn and diagonal driving by independently controlling the direction of each wheel.
By integrating steering, braking, suspension and electric drive functions into individual wheel modules, the technology could give future vehicles far more freedom in tight urban spaces.
