2025 vs 2015

Wow, it's been such an incredible journey diving back into my old creative projects! You know that feeling when you look at something you made years ago and just know you can bring it to a whole new level? That's exactly how I felt about my original characters from 2015. It's truly amazing to see how far my art skills have come and how much richer my storytelling ideas have become since then. My protagonist, who started as a simple pencil sketch back in 2015 – a charming female character with hair often styled in two buns, wearing a long dress and scarf, and always holding her trusty lantern – has undergone a complete transformation for 2025. Revisiting her design after all these years has been so refreshing. I wanted her to feel modern, dynamic, and truly ready for the adventures ahead in my new comic. It's like imagining what my favorite characters might look like if they were reimagined for today's audience or for upcoming projects in 2025! The 2025 redraw is something I'm incredibly proud of. She's now a vibrant digital illustration, a dark-skinned female character with beautiful long, wavy brown hair that just flows with her every move. We've swapped the long dress for a stylish light purple shirt and a dark pleated skirt, giving her a more active and contemporary look while keeping that spark of her original spirit. Her pose is so much more dynamic now, really hinting at her strong personality and the journey she's about to embark on. I feel like this new design truly encapsulates the spirit I want to bring to the comic for 2025. It's not just about aesthetics, though. This character design evolution is deeply tied to the new story and timeline I'm crafting. Every detail, from her hair to her attire, tells a part of her updated narrative. Thinking about future projects and what kind of impact a character can make when they've grown alongside you is fascinating. Bringing characters to life, especially ones you've known for so long, feels like reconnecting with an old friend and helping them step into their best self, ready for their moment in 2025.
