Update on Life:Birthday Addition🥀😮💨
Sorry that it’s been awhile. My health took a big hit. Having a chronic illness (Sickle Cell Anemia) is a pain in the ass 😩especially when my pains can come out of nowhere and everywhere. Sunday March 17 i went into the hospital, had to call ambulance. Stayed until Monday March 25th and I was happy to get out before my birthday (April 2nd). I made reservations to a really nice restaurant and it was hard to get one and was going to have my friends there and the next day go to a brunch with just my girl friends. Unfortunately the same week Friday March 29th I started feeling pain all over again and had to go back into the hospital😭I had to cancel everything, the reservation, nail and hair appointments because I knew i wasn’t going to get out before my birthday. This visit I stayed another week so I got discharged Saturday April 6th. It was really upsetting ofc because I was looking forward to celebrate my 23rd birthday with everyone. I really wanted to celebrate because i’ve just been having terrible issues more than usual with my sickness and always being in pain from head to toe😓. It’s been a little over a year since it’s gotten to a chronic level. Gotten multiple blood transfusions etc. I know i could’ve celebrated after but I lost interest and my friends worked so they’re busy so that was the only time they could take off and attend. So yup there’s a life update😪❤️#Lemon8Diary #shareyourthoughts #embracevulnerability #storytime #lemon8bookclub #sicklecellawareness #sicklecellwarrior
Living with Sickle Cell Anemia can be incredibly challenging and often leads to critical situations that disrupt expectations, like celebrating important milestones. Many individuals with chronic illnesses share similar experiences of scheduling events that are later canceled due to flare-ups or hospital visits. It's crucial to create awareness about Sickle Cell Anemia, understanding its effects, and providing support to those affected. Patients can benefit from connecting with support groups, engaging in community discussions, and sharing their experiences. Research continues to explore better management strategies for Sickle Cell Anemia, focusing on pain management, treatment innovations, and improving quality of life for patients. These conversations help foster understanding and compassion within our communities, allowing us to embrace vulnerability and celebrate resilience amidst adversity. Remember, you're not alone in your journey; there are many individuals standing with you in solidarity.

I’m so sorry you had to spend your birthday in the hospital 🥺 Last year I was discharged on my birthday but I didn’t want to celebrate, so I know how it feels 😔 I hope you are feeling better now and even though you couldn’t have the celebration you wanted at that time, please know every day you are alive is special🩵
