It’s almost like… it’s almost like that’s the whole point😀 #momskits #settingboundaries #boundarysetting #momadvice #abmomlife
As a mom managing the dynamic lives of twins and a toddler, I've found that establishing clear boundaries is essential not just for my sanity but also for my children’s emotional growth. One key realization is captured perfectly by the phrase from a popular parenting POV: "You don't HAVE to hold baby every time they cry." This was a game-changer for me. Initially, I felt compelled to comfort my baby immediately whenever they fussed, thinking it was a mom’s duty to always provide physical reassurance. However, I learned that responding thoughtfully rather than reflexively encourages my children to develop self-soothing skills, which is critical for their independence. Of course, this doesn't mean ignoring a baby's needs but rather setting gentle limits that allow both the child and the mom some breathing space. For example, I would offer cuddles and soothing but also create moments where my babies learned to settle themselves, helping them to be more resilient and less reliant on constant holding. This approach aligns with boundary setting practices that respect both the child’s needs and the parent’s well-being. It’s about striking a balance: responding with love and attention, but also knowing when to step back. Through trial and error, and a lot of patience, this has improved my family’s quality of life tremendously. For other moms, especially those juggling multiple young kids, embracing this mindset can reduce stress and build a more harmonious home. Setting boundaries isn’t just necessary; it’s empowering. It supports healthy attachments and reinforces a message that it’s okay to take care of yourself while loving your children fully.
